Who else does this consistently in the HISTORY of CFB - He makes big time plays at will?

Anyone? Ever?

I cannot think of anyone ever doing this in all my years of watching CFB.

All I would like to see him do is be confident without showboat..let his play and abilities show on the field..

he is gooooood! Glad we have him and not have to play against him. He just has the game in his head

Meh i don't care if he showboats, personally i don't think he is any worse than the average smack talker. PP7 was a trash talker too.

Not nearly enough respect for him in the terms of Heisman. How many players on defense are consistently causing turnovers and scoring touchdowns? This is why the Heisman is bs. Call it the best award for the best OFFENSIVE player if defensive players aren't even going to be given a fair chance. I've been saying this for years.

Most similar in terms of disruption was the "original" LT, Lawrence Taylor. But HE was like 6'3 and 250 (and quite possibly coked out of his fricking helmet), whereas Mathieu is 5'9" and 175.

His genetics (size) are so unfortunate for him; if he was even average cornerback size he'd be top 5 in the draft. Get him to linebacker size and he's the top pick of the decade.

Hmmm, he IS just a sophomore, and Sam Mills was also just 5'9". And we DO have Claiborne and Simon out there. And finally, he does seem to be kinda playing linebacker anyway. I wonder if they try to beef him to maybe 200 lbs or so next year and try to make him a linebacker? (LSU's LBs tend to go 220 or so, fast but not huge)

Hell, he's already playing that spot anyway

If he produces in the big games, Alabama, Florida and Arkansas, he will get the consideration.

He has to consistently make the plays on the National Stage. he really needs a big signature moment. Punt Return, strip fumble or interception touchdown to win a game in crunchtime.

I am predicting a pick 6 from him next week. What the heck. With him, it is not going that far out on a limb !
