These arguments are straight up fricking dumb .. For these comments to be correct, you'd have to say Miles is a better coach than Saban now .. So are you ??

why did the 2004 team get drummed by Georgia
Georgia had this game circled the day lsu beat them in the sec title game. Darrell green & deion sanders couldn't have covered Georgia's wr's that day. david green was on fire.

and lose on the last play to Iowa in Capital One Bowl
saban was halfway in Miami for that game. he shouldn't have been allowed to coach the game imo. but if he was not going to Miami, no way we lose that game.

I forgot coaches can't grow and improve in their line of work as they age just like in any other profession.

Saban is a better coach now than he was back then.

He was still a better coach back then than Miles ever was or will be.

Yet even in the despair of that year we somehow beat a team that ended the season ranked. Something the 2002 and 2004 teams failed to do.....Really puts into perspective how far the SEC has come...

whew! youre not following me here. in other words, Saban was NOT a bad coach. The georgia game did not define him as a coach, it was the exception. likewise, games like Ole Miss, 1/9 do not define Miles, it is the exception. But w/ Saban we overllok it because he's won titles at bama. Miles doesnt get that same consideration because he's not NICK SABAN

Agree. Another reason I am always puzzled when people point to the Cap One bowl as meaningful evidence of Saban's coaching ability. He was a lame duck coach. And he never should have been allowed to be on the sidelines that day.

I would humbly disagree. If Saban is accorded any special consideration, it's because he has won four NC's.

If Miles were to win four NC's -- or even three, or two -- he would get a great deal more latitude. But he hasn't. And frankly, he probably won't.

Was thinking of that game on Sat. Everything the opposing qb threw in both games was money. Bo was on target it seemed that no matter how small the window was he fit it in there.

He had his best game while Mett had his worst game. The coaches did not help by not calling TO sooner prior to the fg at the end.

His last bowl game is what I hate him for. He really didn't give a shite about LSU at that point.

Not a fan of Saban's right now, but Saban is a good coach because of 2003, 2009, 2011, 2012.

Not sure why we are examining what he did/didn't do in 2004.
