compare the PERFORMANCES of saban to miles. throw the results out the window for a minute.

If you say they are the same then you do not know anything about football.

Only two great coaches in college football, Saban and Meyer. Miles is good, not great. He is on that Stoops, Brown, Spurrier, Fulmer, level which is good. All have/had run their course at their current schools. If you think the time management and in game decisions are not big faults, then he is definitely your man!! I don't get into the goofiness, funny talking crap cause Saban says aight about a million times and looks very uncomfortable in front of the media also. List Sabans faults currently as a head coach. What does he do poorly?? I don't think he does anything that any other coach can not do. I think his drive to win and hatred/fear of losing and embarrassment are above all others. That takes sacrifice and being looked at like a supreme butt and miserable. But it also gets you to that level. My favorite quote of all time is by Saban, "To be great, one has to first get over being good". Think Miles believes that philosophy...

no, Less has become as complacent as a big fat alabama tick on a hound dog because he knows we are screwed with his contract.

All I can do is laugh when I read posts like this. Saban won as many NCs and SECCs in five years at LSU as Miles has won in nine, and he did it despite inheriting a team that hadn't won the conference in over a decade and was coming off two brutal losing seasons.

Whatever, I don't have the patience to rebut crap like this any more.

To recap, 2004 LSU finished 9-2 (6-2) in the regular season, 9-3 overall. That 6-2 regular SEC record matches or exceeds Miles' SEC mark in all but two of his nine seasons. For example, if 2004 was a disaster, then so was last year.

In 2004 we needed 3 missed extra points to beat a 7-5 PAC 12 opponent (Oregon State) in Tiger Stadium. Our SEC opponents records were:

Auburn 13-0
Mississippi State 3-8
Georgia 10-2
Florida 7-5
Vanderbilt 2-9
Alabama 6-6
Ole Miss 4-7
Arknasas 5-6

In 2012 We blasted our PAC 12 opponent (Washington) 41-3. Our SEC opponents were:

Auburn 3-9
Florida 11-2
South Carolina 11-2
Texas A&M 11-2
Alabama 13-1
Mississippi State 8-5
Ole Miss 7-6
Arkansas 4-8

Miles 6-2 in the SEC last year with 3 losses to Top 10 teams by a combined 13 points was a hell of a lot more impressive than Saban's 6-2 in 2004. Saban didn't beat one team with a record over .500 in SEC play and had a 29-point loss to UGA.

somebody once again does not know the difference between RESULTS and PERFORMANCES.

we know saban blows miles away with results but he does it with performances also.

During Sabans tenure in the SEC west 2/4 years the West was represented by a team with 3 SEC losses and 3/5 the winner had 2 losses. Only once did an SEC team win a national title. The only time the west was represented by a 2 SEC loss team during Les' tenure was 2007 when we won an NC. 3 times during Les' tenure the west was represented by an undefeated team.

In the midst of all this Les has had two teams that ended the season with 1 loss, 1 in the midst of the biggest national disaster in the history of the nation occuring in our state and the other completing what is possibly the greatest regular season in modern college football beating the 3 BCS bowl winning opponents along the way.

Ok you got us. BAMA can keep that non Miles level coach. Ours is better now than Saban ever was here. Thank god we didn't play a Leigh Anne Tuohy coached team or we would have been truly skunked. She did teach Freeze how to handle big mike! at least in the movie!! Good call Sir, Miles is the MAN!!!

Bama saban does.

LSU saban struggled with Troy lost to UAB lost to UF with a freshman qb at home. Got destroyed by Spurrier till he mercifully left for the NFL, got shut out at home by bama 31-0, needed the bluegrass miracle at UK, needed a miracle by Jruss to beat a crappy OSU team, got destroyed by roy williams single handily in the cotton bowl, struggled with a 4-7 Ole miss team in 2004

Need I go on?

Yep, whatever amounted to that guy?? Probably coaching at a mid level program wishing for the Glory days at LSU and hoping he could end up as successful as Miles.

i have to admit, u guys are very good at missing the point.

Saban is a great coach. he was then, he is now.
Miles is also a great coach. they have different philosophies, and personalities. Saban certainly has more titles.

u guys seem to think that i was implying saban sucked as a coach because of games lost here..

what im saying is every time LSU loses a game, the rant wants him gone. thats crazy.

Miles has lost two games this year, Saban lost two regular season games in 2004.

none of those losses for either coach defined their ability or lack thereof to coach.

there are roughly over 120 FBS schools competing each year for a championship, only one team wins it, the rest wait for next year. By the logic here, every FBS coach not named saban should be unemployed. by that same logic, saban should have been unemployed after 2010...lost 3 games, blew a 24 point lead to Auburn (their Ole Miss), and didnt win the title. you have to be reasonable at some point. every great coach has lost . Lombardi, the Bear, Tom Osborne, etc. etc.. thats all im saying. right now, Saban is THE GUY. he's at alabama . we have a pretty damn good coach in Miles. one day when he is gone, and we eventually return to mediocrity, it will be sad that we spent this pinnacle of our program bitching because Miles wasnt saban.

now if u cant grasp that, then u just want to be miserable.

u guys do crack me up though

First, GFY. Second, just agreeing that Miles is the MAN!! You Miles lovers have shown me the light. He is and will always be better than Saban. Saban must have really cheated to beat OM 25-0. No way he could have prepared his team better than Miles to be that great OM team. Saban better than Miles! please!!!!!!

Saban better more experienced now.

Saban not looking ahead to the NFL all the time.

Add those together and you get what we've witnessed at Bama.

Both programs have access to the same level of talent so the difference is ____________
