Its sad that the second most popular sport, has the most subjective title in all of American sports. After every single BCSCG the analyst would question whether or not the two teams were voted in. That's never happened after the SECCG. There is no human bias or subjective criteria ( eyeball test). You dont get VOTED into a seccg. Also, its easier to win the BCS/PLAYOFF, because you cant finish 2nd in the sec east/west and play in the seccg. And like i said earlier, the coaches and players have no control over making the playoff.

Are you serious? On every lsu team Shep played on, he wasnt even the 5th-6th best offensive weapon.

That was the gripe. The guy was pretty electric at times but it seemed like they could never get creative to get him the ball in space.

They did that. Using diff formations and plays. How many times did Shep run the jet sweep, The wr bubble, and direct hand offs. What made Shep great in hs was him being shifty and his speed. Compared to other SEC athletes,Shep wasnt faster or more agile than everyone. Once he switched to wr people realized he couldn't get separation and his route running was atrocious. Leaning in a lot of his breaks and his hands were average at best. All those were expected considering he had never played wr, but it seems he never progressed and there were more talented wrs so he was passed on the depth chart.
Im glad he has/is pursuing his dream though.

No arm, too small to be a RB, not great hands.
He was fast, and he was shifty, but that doesn't always equal Football success.

I won't argue what you are saying about his route running, hands, and stuff. I'm just saying that was the gripe at the time.
But I do believe that in some other system with another offensive staff from day 1 he could have probsbly done much more.

Route running wasn't good because the guy wasn't a pure receiver comin out of HS and all. Doesn't mean he couldn't have developed into one. The problem is the guy was never used correctly by Miles and staff just like they have with so many other players. This kid should have been in a read spread option type offense to utilize his explosiveness. Other schools would have known right away what to do with a Russell Shepard.
but you have Miles tryin to figure him out and all that crap, using him as a real RB from the I in some instances. Shepard is not going anywhere at 190 or 195 in that situation. Then, you would have him take a 5 yard pass around scrimmage and turn it into a 65 yard TD run and not be heard from again until 7 games later. He doesn't deserve the negativity people on here are giving him. He was used terribly and inconsistently the whole while at LSU. Never having developed at all. I'm happy for him he still made it to the NFL through his own hard work.

He wasnt that explosive. He ran a 4.37 shuttle and 7.09 3 cone. Both would finished in the bottom 3 in most drafts.

He was kinda fast. 4.46 hand timed& and he wasnt shifty. His shuttle and 3 cone were some of the worst wr # at the combine

Yes, please do because they don't tackle. The point is clown a lot of players who would go on to star in the NFL had some shitty combine numbers. Drills like this, they use every combine hardly tell shite about a player.

His longest reception of his lsu career was 37 yards. You may be thinking if the handoff against auburn.

Maybe it was recorded as a lateral which doesnt go in rec yards.
