Just got off phone with a very good friend of mine from Bama(yeah I know why am I friends with someone like that) supposely Mitch Gaspard has stepped down as the HC of Alabama few moments ago, already some news outlets there are reporting that Bama will try and go after Alan Dunn after the LSU Baseball season is over, told him it will hopefully be over in few weeks, but he told me thats the clear name coming out of Tuscaloosa.

Why would Alabama hire an assistant coach when plenty of good candidates who are proven head coaches will want that job?

Mitch Gaspard resigns position as Alabama head baseball coach
Mitch Gaspard has resigned as Alabama's head baseball coach after seven seasons.
The Crimson Tide went 293-194 in Gaspard's tenure, but missed the NCAA Tournament in three of those seasons.
He took over for Jim Wells prior to the 2010 season and Alabama reached the Super Regional round, but had not reached that point since then. Alabama also made NCAA regionals in 2011, 2013 and 2014.
Alabama was not selected as an at-large to this year's tournament despite going 15-15 in SEC play.

LSU will be fine regardless. Paul has proved that he can make great hires.

And they won't get him.

You do realize he played at Bama right? Probably his dream job.

If Dunn want it, it's a no brainer for him.
Leading a college program is a lot different than being a pitching coach. Your sole focus is the pitching staff which is what he's always done and you don't have to do all the speaking engagements and other BS that comes with being the head coach.
I think Dunn's earned the right to turn that job down if he wants.
PM won't be at LSU forever, probably looking at around 6/7 more years for PM so what does Dunn want to do after that.

I hope Canizaro is the coach-in-waiting.
Really like what he's done so far.

So CPM doesn't get any credit for the hires? Oh that's right we're LSU we only give credit to a head coach when the team does bad.

But what if Blake Dean wins a bunch at UNO?

A lot of people are going to object on the basis that he's unproven. But I would be willing to take a chance on him.
As for Dunn, he doesn't seem like the head coach type but if Bama is his dream job, so be it.
