Alabama dropped out of the RPI top-25 on Boyd's world and is hanging on at #25 on Warren Nolan

Top-25 wins are a big feather in Ole Miss's cap thanks to their early season 3-0 record vs Alabama. If we are to get a national seed, it will have to be the one Ole Miss is holding. I'm now rooting for UNLV and Nebraska to win today to keep Bama at 26.

Eventually pundits will come around to LSU having played it's way into the 8-seed, but the sooner the better.

EDIT: it was Bama who swept them. We need Bama to stay IN the top 25

You're probably right but Miami isnt a lock anymore. I think TCU may steal their top 8.

Someone yesterday said: no way ACC get's 3 national seeds now. After Miami lost two and dropped to RPI #14 - they're out. I like that line of thinking.

Then TCU/Texas/Ok State (pick one) gets the 7-seed.

That still leaves one. We're fighting Ole Miss, Cal Poly, Rice...

Texas has absolutely no shot at a top 8

Everyone in that state has an artificially inflated RPI from driving 30mins in state to play each other.

Beat the shite out of arky and Florida (if they win) and we have a very good shot IMO.

I realize that but Texas finished 5th in the big 12 with a 13-11 record. They'll be lucky to get a regional.

Alabama swept Ole Miss not the other way around.

My bad Not sure why everyone thinks Ole Miss is the 8 even with RPI of 14.

Ok, so the opposite of what I said. We want Nebraska and UNLV to lose.

Ole Miss is getting a lot of mileage, RPI wise, from sweeping Kentucky on the road.

Yeah, I personally think we can theoretically "eliminate" ole miss on our own by merely winning the sec tourney....we'd end up with a higher RPI, higher poll rankings, stronger finish, and head-to-head series win. They would have the 2nd place vs 3rd place going for them (by a mere game), but I think all the other stuff outweighs that.

And I agree that we should root for whatever needs to happen to keep Bama In the top25. Not sure how much it helps us, but it nonetheless would help our resume and RPI.

If LSU wins thE tourney I think TCU/OSU/Big12 gets one of the two open seeds along with LSU/Rice in the other open seed. I give the nod to rice, but maybe that's just my pessimism talking.

Everyone has pretty much convinced me cal poly isnt getting a national seed, but I still think they're a wild card that possibly gets the final spot over Rice/LSU

I also agree that Miami has lost it's national seed. Anything is possible, but I think they're out for the reasons u pointed out.

Thought you said Ole miss was already out of it?

IMO, its ole miss, tcu, miami, and rice fighting fighting for the final 2 national seeds. Lsu and cal poly on the outside looking in

As long as LSU doesn't win the sec tourney, I think ole miss has a decent case for one of the open two seeds. On the other hand, if LSU wins the sec tournament, I think Either LSU would get it or neither. The problem for ole miss is that if LSU wins the sec tourney IMO it would be very difficult to put ole miss as anational seed over LSU (higher RPI for LSU, higher polls for LSU, head--to-head, etc.....outweighing 2nd vs 3rd place)

I think miami's performance In the tourney gave the committee a reason they needed to not give the ACC 3 seeds.

All that said, I think the final two spots are going to TCU and rice is my prediction.i hope I am wrong and TCU and LSU getthe last two spots

We're saying we will pass Ole Miss.

TCU/OSU - whoever wins the B12 is IN (though Texas winning could make it interesting)

That leaves - Rice, Miami, Cal Poly, Ole Miss and LSU for the final spot.

Not just in this thread but I've heard the term " national seed " as a top 8 seed & a top 16 seed.
Lets get on the same page.

What about if Bama drops out of the the top 25. Doesn't this possibly knock ULL out of the top 8 ?
Then the only top 25 ULL victory was a rain shortened mid-week game 3 months ago!!

LSU top 8 seed ? Isn't our AD on the selection/seeding committee to make the case for LSU in a close call situation ?

National seed means top8. The other 8 are merely "regional hosts"

Most think ULL has has national seed locked up as do I , but yes if Bama is not in top25 ULL has a meager 1-0 record against the top25 for the entire season

Probably 6 locked up national seeds, (UVA/UF/FloSt/Ind/ULL/OregSt), one to Big12 (TCU/OSU), and probably only one up for grabs...rice/lsu/OM/calPoly/Miami
