brosephina,

neither of those two team have a chance. USC perpetually shits the bed, and Mizzou inst on the same planet.

FSU will beat bama though :jump2:

The Cotton Bowl will almost always take a Texas team over anyone else if they have the choice. We do indeed need Missouri to win.

Why does everyone want the cotton bowl. just curious.

i for one dont think a match up against Baylor does any good for LSU.

If you beat Baylor, big deal, you beat Baylor.
If you lose, you lost to Baylor.

I'd much prefer a Michigan or Nebraska type game. Traditional powerhouses that we never get a chance to play.

Disagree.

A&M likely has the "tie-breaker" with us because of JFF despite what happened on the field, especially in Texas and the fact we started the season there.

Realistically, our ceiling is the Cotton, our floor is the Gator/CFA.

Root for A&M to lose for that reason and Bama to lose because, well, screw those guys.

Our season goals shifted to being a Bama spoiler after we lost to Ole Miss' JV and we failed at that too. We all know it. It's not being negative.

We are on Plan C, and that is go out on a high note in the Cotton.

Okay, so that's Cap One, Outback or Gator.

We're not going to the Capital One Bowl unless some really crazy stuff happens that may or may not include some combo of Mizzou or A&M losing.

Outback would be great, but they nearly always pick the East team so it seem unlikely. I hope that happens personally but I'm not counting on it. Morning games are not LSU forte however.

Next is the Gator Bowl, which is effectively the 7th place team in the SEC. Unless we lose to Arkansas, that's unlikely too.

BCSNCG
Sugar Bowl/other BCS
Cap One
Cotton
Outback
CFA
Gator

It is truly on a national stage. Primetime. Would be against a big name opponent. The Cotton Bowl has the feel of a BCS bowl and really is a BCS bowl other than there is not a BCS payout. LSU would gain national respect by beating a Baylor team in front of a packed Jerry World on primetime and set us up with good momentum heading into the close of recruiting season as well as the beginning of next season. A win would also propel LSU in to the top 10. LSU has something to GAIN by being in this bowl.

The ChikFilA bowl just doesn't have that appeal. It is just feels like an inferior bowl. The stadium will be half full and it will have a crappy ACC participant like Duke. LSU wouldn't have anything to gain in a game like that, only somehting to lose.

No way in hell I ever root for A&M... Besides, as others have mentioned, Mizzou beating A&M would give us a better record than the Aggies. That should put us in a better position for the Cotton Bowl.

ETA: Never say never I suppose as this guy pointed out:

TAM played in Cotton last year,no? That's to our favor. So did Texas so to me it looks more likely us v. Baylor.

We take care of a higher ranked team and go 3-0 vs. Big 12 this year.

TAM ;)

Ohio State loses to either Michigan or Michigan State.

Florida State loses to Florida. OSU and FSU drop back to 7 or 8.

Auburn squeaks by Missouri. Missouri beats SC.

Auburn beats Missouri on the last play of the SEC Championship.

Final BCS poll:

1. Auburn
2. Alabama
3. Mizzou

Another ALL SEC BCS National Championship.

DOMINATION!!

This. The Cotton Bowl still has more prestige because it's one of the original Big Four, but got screwed in the BCS selection process.

I was going to start a thread about this myself but I'll just give my 2 cents.

I definitely Mizzou over A&M gives us the best shot at the Cotton bowl (although probably eliminates us from the Cap One). A Mizzou win followed by a loss in the SECCG probably puts them in the Cap One bowl and LSU would go to the Cotton over A&M. If A&M beats Mizzou, then LSU, A&M, and Mizzou are all in contention for the cotton.

We definitely need Clemson over SC. If that happens and A&M loses I see the bowls shaking out like this:

1. NC game: Bama (12-0)
2. Sugar: Auburn (10-2)
3. Cap One: Missouri (11-2)
4. Outback: SC (9-3)
5. Cotton: LSU (9-3)
6. Chicken: A&M (8-4)
7. Gator: Georgia (8-4)

If A&M wins you have 6 teams with 3-losses or less and 5 bowls LSU fans would be happy with. If SC finishes 10-2 it could screw things up for LSU as well if they snuck into the Cap One.
