Eagles preseason games this year will be the same as Charger preseason games last year. Amazingly enough, a lot of the people in the daily "OMG Shep and the Eagles Miles is an idiot!!" thread were the same ones in the "OMG look what Lee is doing in the NFL Miles is an idiot" threads.
This.
RobbBobb, CptBengal both made asses of themselves in those threads

The positive reports about NFL Tigers keep rolling in.
RS will be out of football as soon as the Eagles stock up on free agent WRs. If colleges had a 60 man roster limit RS would not have made LSU's team; he sure as hell won't make an NFL team.

Always happy to see former Tigers do well, and I wish him all the best.
But we heard the same things about Jarrett Lee last year in preseason bringing joy to the hearts of Les bashers across the land
I won't get too excited until they get into full pads and he has to beat press coverage and catch passes with live hits coming.
I just never saw much physicality in his game, not to mention he didn't exactly have the best hands.
Loved the recruiting he did for LSU and the plays he made, but I would be shocked if he sticks around the league for long.
Hope I'm wrong, and if anyone can figure out how to use him, Kelly should have as good a shot as anyone

He might make an NFL team like the Eagles who are thin at WR. He became a much better WR over his years at LSU. Got stronger, better routes, better hands. He was looking like a real WR by his senior year. He could have started for a lot of teams as a senior.

I go to 4 or 5 LSU games a year, and I still don't know what the hell y'all/we could have done to get him involved other than completely change the O, which would have been an even bigger mess
Perfect post... People just get mad that LSU doesn't put up Xbox stats in the passing attack..

I've always been on team Shep, but I simply will not believe he can be a starting NFL wideout until I see it.

Yeah, Maclin blows out a knee and Cooper drops an N bomb and suddenly Shepard is a perennial all pro who embodies all of Miles's failures. I am no Miles sunshine pumper, but Shepard never locked down a WR spot and certainly never consistently showed he was elite while in college. Miles is a few french fries short of a happy meal, but I will give him a pass on Shepard.

The rant should love this news
Report: Russell Shepard staking claim on No. 2 WR job by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(08/05/13) The Eagles' No. 2 receiver job is Russell Shepard's to lose, according to CSNPhilly.com. With Jeremy Maclin out for the season and Riley Cooper on extended leave, Shepard has been working with the starting unit opposite DeSean Jackson.
"He has great speed, he runs great routes, he has a good set of hands," Michael Vick said. "He knows how to play football instinctively and that's what you're always looking for, a guy you don't have to teach everything."
Defensive lineman Bennie Logan, a teammate of Shepard's at LSU, said the undrafted 6-1, 195-pounder is "dominating this camp." Shepard is ahead of Damaris Johnson and Arrelious Benn, according to the report.

....but will he throw a pass or not?

But if he does succeed at WR, is Les right or wrong for moving him to wideout? You know Ruben Randle is supposedly "dominating" camp as well.
Don't forget the reality of the all the extra reps in NFL over college.

People that get or seem mad that Shep is being successful are dumb
And people who are mad at LSU for Shep being successful are also dumb.

Well I just read they haven't put the pads on yet. I was like well this thread may be for not.
I like RS so not bashing him but we will see how well he does when he hears footsteps coming and gets contact with pads on.

Eagles start practicing against the Pats today. Could be a good place to see his development
Posted on 8/6/13 at 11:32 am to FLBooGoTigs1
People that are true Tiger fans should be happy just to see another former Tiger doing well in the hard to make NFL. All this bashing crap I will never get.

[quote]. Could it all be as simple as just that his QB's blew the whole time
Partly. But he dropped his share of passes.
He may have been it shock the ball didn't bounce to him.

The talk of what could've been at UO, WVU, etc also a bunch of conjecture. Could've been behind many better WRs and at least LSU gave him PT.
