Hi everyone. My father in law and I are starting a rivalry Tour this year (he is Arizona St I'm Arizona) and we selected LSU/Alabama as our first pick. We are coming into town Saturday and staying the night. Any pregame spots, sights, restaurants we should hit for the experience?

Definitely watch the band come down Victory Hill prior to game.

And definitely be in your seats at least 15-20 minutes before kickoff so that you get to see Pregame

LSU restaurant Rec: The Chimes (for Sunday, probably would be too busy on Saturday)

Gameday id recommend walking around campus and checking out various tailgates...wear your Zona shirt and an LSU cap and you'll be well received by all. Tell everyone you share in our hate for Bama and you'll eat and drink for free all day.

I would say go see Mike the Tiger, but he passed away a couple days ago... You can still go see his multimillion dollar habitat next to stadium, it's pretty cool

LSU / Bama is the busiest game of the year. If you don't have a parking pass, and need to park, get on campus early. There are shuttles from the baton rouge downtown hotels if you are staying there.

Chimes is good but will be very busy, prepare to wait, but you can watch games by the bar while waiting. Parrains is similar or ACME oyster is good too for grilled oysters, both are close to campus but not walking distance.

Also LSU publishes a "game day itinerary" for every home game, I'd recommend having that handy on Gameday

And I'll say it again because I think it's worth it, wear your Zona shirt with something LSU (hat, jacket, etc).. People will probably call u over to their tailgates

We are staying at the Drury east of campus. Is it easy to get an Uber or cab to the campus? I have NO intention of driving ??

LSU-Bama will be a 7pm kickoff on CBS, so here's what I would recommend...

9-11am - head to campus, earlier the better obviously...Uber or Taxi
9am-4pm - walk around campus, go to different tailgates, parade grounds, book store, etc (like I said, if you wear some kind of primarily Zona gear with LSU add-on you'll get treated well)
4pm - head over to Mike's habitat/PMAC
5pm - Band comes down Victory Hill (between PMAC & Tiger Stadium)
6:30pm - Be in seat in stadium, earlier the better to soak in the stadium and pregame atmosphere
6:45 - LSU Pregame ... Do NOT miss this
7pm - kickoff
LSU wins - go out anywhere
LSU loses - frick

-Assuming LSU beats Ole Miss this week, ESPN Gameday will likely be here for LSU-Bama, so that could be another thing you'd want to add to the list in the morning (it would be set up at Parade Grounds on campus). The only other option Nov5 is Neb@OhioSt and Neb will probably lose at Wisconsin before that

Are you staying in Baton Rouge Friday night and Saturday night or just Saturday night?

Roux 61 is near you. It's a good local restaurant that won't be impossible to get a table at (Sammys and chimes will be ridiculous.)

Uber will be easy enough. Have driver exit I-10 north of campus (eg Louise St)and come back south on Thomas Delpit and then on to Highland. and drop you near the north gates. Walk south on Highland and enjoy the path towards Tiger Stadium from the East. Then Make a big loop around it as well to catch the tailgating nestled up to west side of stadium (fancy folks).

Get in your seats an hour before game starts to see all the pregame festivities. On game day you won't need a restaurant, just walk around and stop at the tailgate where you smell good food. Tell them where you're from and they will take care of you.

Start early in the day, but pace yourself with the drinking. The eating will help with that!

Thanks for all the tips. Truly appreciated. So glad we are making BR our first trip of this journey. We are flying into New Orleans Friday and staying the night then plan to drive up around 9 or 10am. Drop stuff at that hotel and start following your itinerary :)
I agree, Gameday could be there but I've done that circus...

If LSU beats Ole Miss, atmosphere will be off the charts for Bama with the fanbase having a new-found energy and excitement with O in charge (not to mention legitimate shot at SEC title again)

Even if we lose to Ole Miss, Bama atmosphere will be good, but if we beat Ole Miss you will be coming to a uber-electric atmosphere

We reserve a special brand of hate for Alabama, for obvious reasons. And despite choking away heartbreakers in the last 2 LSU-Bama games in TigerStadium (which were both great games with incredible atmospheres), LSU is certainly due In the series.

Have fun!

Chimes Restaurant (North Gate at LSU) College hangout - Good Food

Poor Boy LLoyds Seafood Restaurant (Downtown BR) Genuine Louisiana Food

Ruffino's Restaurant - (Italian Restaurant)

Past time Lounge (A early Game day hangout)

Gameday = I would be at LSU experimenting Pregame on campus

Enjoy your stay in Baton Rouge!!
