RIP YA Tittle. Between a hard fought game against Auburn, celebrating the 2007 national title team, and remembering YA Tittle, Saturday will be a pretty emotional day.

So happy I was able to meet him. I was only 16 at the time and saw him being escorted through the corridors of Tiger Stadium. My friend and I were just returning to our seats after going to the concessions. I figured that with such an entourage he must be pretty important, but I had no idea who he was. I walked up to him and asked if he could sign my hat, to which he agreed and then told me to enjoy the rest of the game. When I got back to my seat my friend said he couldn’t believe that I actually went up and got a signature from him. I still didn’t know who he was, so I didn’t really appreciate just how much that signature meant. That is until my friends dad explained who he was, and how much of a legend he was. For a man of such stature to take the time make some random kid’s day speaks to who Y.A. Tittle was, and how he shall be remembered. Along with all the great performances on the field. Rest In Peace Y.A. Tittle, and thank you for all you did.

Regarding those posts about Tittle losing his pants while being tackled, this is found in the Peter Finney book, The Fighting Tigers:75 Years of LSU Football. It may also be in his updated version of that book.

I remember my Dad talking about the game with Y A & Choo Choo Justice.

You are 10 years older than me. Sad to see the passing of Y. A.

Which team won?

One of only three LSU Tigers in the NFL Hall of Fame. Anyone who knew him, knew how much he loved LSU. It's a shame he isn't remembered anywhere in Tiger Stadium.

Thanks for sharing that story as it was an awesome read. I shed several tears since both my in-laws have dementia. Such a nasty disease and I could relate to YA repeating himself and his constant memory loss. RIP Mr. Tittle and thanks for the memories

One of the most underrated and forgotton to the last 2 generations of LSU, College & NFL football fans & media of all time!

I knew he was a great QB in the NFL but didnt realize just how truely great he was.

From Wikipedia:
At the time of his retirement, Tittle held the following NFL records:[44][77]

Career passing yards (28,339)
Career passing touchdowns (212)
Career pass attempts (3,817)
Career pass completions (2,118)
Passing touchdowns in a season (36)
Passing touchdowns in a game (7)
Career total offense (29,338)
Games played (176)

WOW!!!!!!!

RIP Y.A. Tittle

I thought was either Finney or Hardesty who wrote about it...

According to Finney's obit, he started at the States-Item in 1945 and from the way he described it in his book, I think he witnessed that fabled interception...
