It's his alma mater and no other big jobs are opening this season except maybe Indiana and I don't see him as their guy

The other night a big MTSU booster asked me if we would "take care of his boy" next year. I said, "What the frick are you talking about?" He said "Kermit".

Scotty, your sauces picking up on the Buzz buzz?

We're trying to get this hire done for $2.5 million a year, max. Supposedly.

Buzz Williams is making $2.6 this year, and he goes up 100K every year until 2022 or so. He might be too pricey.

That's pretty sad if we let va tech out bid us, if Williams is we want.

Archie's going to have the pick of the litter, not just NCST

Well, so far - and interestingly it doesn't look RIGHT NOW like this is going to change - this is an absolute buyer's market for basketball coaches.

Looks like Clemson's sticking with their guy, Crean and Matta look like they'll hold on to their jobs, Georgia says they're keeping Mark Fox.

So as of right now, there are exactly three Power 5 jobs coming open - NC State, LSU and Missouri.

I agree with the Archie Miller-to-NC State expectations. That's his alma mater and they will come with a big bankroll. If he doesn't take it he's probably not leaving.

But with just those three jobs open, you're virtually assured of getting a guy with a really good resume.

I would not count Wade out of this, BTW. He makes $1.4 million at VCU, and they went as high as $1.8 to keep Smart. If LSU came with $2.2, he's taking the job, because VCU can't match it. There are people who will tell you he's already got feelers out for this job - if that's true, this will be almost as easy a hire for Alleva as Orgeron was. Just don't say no, for crying out loud.

No. I don't anyone who has any prior connections to LSU. This program needs a complete overhaul on staff and culture.

It's not like he's in the Temple/Brown BBQ club like Johnny is. So you don't want any coach that has been a part of our program before? Not even Musselman? I see where you are coming from considering Alleva's hiring of JJ and coach O, but this isn't really the same.

Especially Musselman considering he has had one stay longer than 2 years in his entire coaching career.

There is no reason why LSU wouldn't be a destination job for a coach who won big here.

Hire somebody who consistently gets the team to the tournament as something better than a bubble team, and you'll have the PMAC just as full as Alex Box or Tiger Stadium - and then you'll start expanding it just like Tiger Stadium, or replacing it like the Box.

And nobody's hiring that guy away, just like nobody was hiring Bertman away.

Wade is not coming. Forbes is the guy LSU needs. Little older. Coached under some program building coaches, and has a wealth of experience.

Close the gap, get better, start building.

Skip was 60 years old and the Architect of the preeminent college baseball program in the country. Skip had nowhere to go. Wade is young and a rising star, there will be a seismic shift in coaching in the next 2-5 years...will Boston fire Stephens, IU, OHST, UL, Clemson, even UNC and MI State could all have openings...all tempting opportunities for a rising star.

Why do LSU fans always want to hire people who have been here before? Why can't we think outside the box? There are dozens of coaches like Kermit Davis who haven't coached at LSU before but you pick the familiar guy. Does it make you feel like you know more? I curiously don't understand it.

There are people close to the program who say something entirely different about Wade's interest in the job.

But if Steve Forbes were to be the guy I wouldn't have a problem with it at all. He's won everywhere he's been.

Him being here before has nothing to do with me wanting to hire him. I would still want him even if he had never been a part of the program.
