And he kept looking downfield for the big play. Where were the checkdowns? We should've been dumping it to the TE and backs all night. (See the jeter play & LF catch turning around just behind the dline)
So glad we have an OC that utilizing the short passing game

Statement of the thread.

People want to cry, moan and groan over a game from last season even though the head coach has already made moves that if successful have already corrected the need for the crying.

Ah, what the hell if they are not crying about last year's game they will cry about the upcoming season. I guess I prefer the meltdown over last years games.

Forget what I said earlier and this post mentioning the new OC and other offensive personnel. Melt away !!!

Fumbles, mishandled snaps and blown coverages are a part of football. I don't think LSU was the only team to fumble or botch a snap last year. I may be wrong but I think I saw other teams fumble last season.

Yes and when have multiple ones in the same game you are going to lose. That is why coaches teach players how important it is not to fumble, mishandle a snap and blow a coverage especially on a deep ball.

Is it also why the head coach would replace 3 of 5 offensive coaches?

Many reasons why a coach would replace offensive coaches, and sometimes they just chose to leave. If you know more let us all in on it?

It is why we lost to Florida!

The exact same thing that happened to Miles his entire 11+ years as the head coach.

They weren't picked by Orgeron to be on the staff. I don't see anything special about replacing 3 coaches when someone new takes over a program.

U r wrong, team was motivated but not focused that is the reason we made a ton of mistakes on 3rd downs, in scoring positions and at crunch time. They did not stay focused on individual assignments.

Yes. LSU was so unfocused that they came out on their first drive and marched 80 for a TD. The second drive they went 63 yards to the UF 7 when the UF D-lineman crashed though and tomahawked the ball out of Guice's hands just as he was about to make a jump cut. Lack of focus had NOTHING to do with that. It was just a bad split-second confluence of circumstances. Fumbles happen no matter how "focused" you are. That one just came at a huge moment.

Outside of one long TD and one drive where O refused to sub his D-line, Florida did nothing on offense. Hell, even after Jackson's fumble gave UF the ball on LSU's 20 up 13-10 with a chance to put the game away, the unfocused defense allowed UF to gain all of 4 yards and made them settle for a FG. LSU was 50% on 3rd down conversions

I'll blame O for having 4 plays inside the 7 had the end of the game and not having the guts to put the ball in the air at least once. Etling didn't have a bad game. He'd just completed a pass for 30 yards on a do-or-die 4th down.

Defense played a good game, offense played good too except in the red zone. Players did not stay focused on individual assignments and made mistakes that cost LSU the game.

Coach O fired Cam Cameron, Dameyune Craig and Jabar Juluke.

They did not leave on their own. Coach O had coached with Cameron for over a year and the other two for a season.

He replaced them with 3 coaches and had no experience of working with two of them - Matt Canada and Mickey Joseph. He seemed to be very unhappy with Juluke and Craig.

I think the Florida game was the beginning of the end for Juluke with Guice's performance including going the wrong way on the final play. His suck-arse recruiting was the final straw.

Very true, but Coach O and the fired coaches were not new to the LSU program. Hell, Coach O made Craig his replacement for recruiting coordinator right after he was named head coach.

I blame O for falling into the coaching logic fallacy that you should bench a guy for fumbling

He threw out fournette after the fumble when fournette was clearly hobbled and left Guice on the bench for 2.5 quarters

Craig still wasn't someone he hand picked to be on his own staff and he was going to name someone as his replacement, Craig happened to be that guy. I guess a person could also look at it like Orgeron made a bad choice in naming his replacement, since he fired him and all.

That and the fact that LSU had a Juco WR committed since the previous year and the whole staff, Craig included, was blindsided on national signing day with the news that the guy was not and could not become qualified. Craig was fired the next day.

During that last time-out, the fricking RB Coach should've done what he was getting paid well to do and made 100% sure that Guice knew the play call and his assignment. He didn't and he's no longer the RB Coach.
