It's amazing how many times we shot ourselves in the foot that game. We were literally 4 plays from a blowout. Guice fumbled inside the 15, botched snap on a FG after 1st & goal, gave up 98yd TD to Florida on ensuing play, fumbled KO return in the 4th.

We really moved the ball well though, and the defense was stout, well until Beckwith went down and Donnie Alexander was our MLB. Etling played great, and you could really see Chark as a weapon with 4 runs on end-arounds or reverses. The TE's & FB's even got involved. Steve Ensminger really made some lemonade out of the burning bag of dogshit that was left on his doorstep. Kudos to Ensminger and Coach O for righting the ship and really mixing things up last year to salvage the season.

We really did play a good enough game to win. Obviously I wish we would've won, but we made some uncharacteristic mistakes. Play that game 10 times and we win 7 or 8 of them.

That was a game where I couldn't blame O. If we made those mistakes every week then it's a coaching thing. But once in a while, shite happens. It just so happens a bunch of those happened in a row in true Murphy's Law style.

We were clearly the better team who couldn't get out of our way that day, it happens. Over 400 yards of offense and 1 TD plus 1 FG that day, ugh.

Guice's fumble, the missheld snap on the chip shot FG, donte jackson's goof on the 98 yard TD play, the kickoff fumble and guice going the wrong way on the final play of the game all were awful mistakes. Just 2 of those 5 things going our way and we win. 4 of those 5 things not happening and we easily win.

Looking forward to that game this year. UF got really cocky after that game last year and I really feel like this year we shove it down their throats in a 31-13 type of win at their place. Homecoming, not so much.

FIFY

Instead of motioning for the crowd to be quiet, young Master Derrius should have been 100% focused on where he needed to go.

Yep. Hell you can add Wisconsin to that list also.

We were legit 3 plays away from being 11-1 last year. Didn't execute well enough and it just didn't go our way.

Maybe the master motivator should have gotten his team focused.

Auburn was a great final act for Les. Do just enough to stay in a tight game. Refuse to take advantage of a chance to step on an opponent's throat before the 4th quarter (AU fumbles inside their own 20 and LSU smashes LF up the middle 3 times, the last of which coming AFTER you wasted a TO to set up the same play you ran twice before). Turn on the offense when you absolutely have to it (the final drive) only to encounter total chaos in the final minute of the game

I can't complain about the Auburn loss too much. Miles needed to go and the season would've been a lot uglier had he made it til the end imo.

So what you're saying is...... That at home, with the Sugar Bowl on the line against a completely depleted defense missing 7 starters, the HC(interim in this case) should've had the players focused. I'm glad we agree.

For the last decade "shooting ourselves in the foot" has been an indication of lack of preparation and a weak minded group without focus or discipline, with our head coach being directly responsible for it.

Now, kudos for righting the ship Coach O!!!

Wisconsin, Auburn, and Florida all should have been wins. We also held Gumpville scoreless through the 3rd.....we have to do better. Go Tigers.

This really is such a perfect summary of the last 11 years.

I know this wasn't the purpose of your post but your observation on Alexander is spot on. He was getting pushed around a lot and he was against Syracuse as well. I really hope he has bulked up and learned to play with more leverage.

First game in LSU history that this board blamed the players and not the coach
