PP is greatness

as he was last year...just imagine if Miles were smart enough to realize this last year...imagine how intimidating it would have been for every kicker looking at #7 and #8 standing on the opposing 5 yd. line, trying to decide which of the two would click off less yardage on the return???

Jai was solid

????????????? this statement tells me that you must have to watch a game three times before you take it all in...Eugene was by no means solid...sorry. Go REWATCH the game...again

Gameplan was very good by Crowton

Yeah, except for the option, not throwing to RR enough, only going to TT once in the whole freakin game, the option, hiking the ball with 20 seconds left on the play clock with 2 minutes left to play in the damn game, the option, not utilizing Joseph as he should have been, and, did I say the option???

I would love to tell you that I am 100% confident that Miles tells his players to stay away from these boards like all the other college coaches definitely tell their players...but, sadly enough, I can't. I wouldn't be surprised to find that he, himself, checks us out from time to time

But UNC was fortunate that a couple of penalties and player turnovers kept them from getting beat by 40.

OK...I hate when freakin people say this!!! Those turnovers were all part of the game dude. You can't just take away our turnovers and penalties and say we would have beat them by 40 without recognizing or taking away their costly turnovers and penalties that could have very well cost them from beating us. You can't just pick out two plays in one game man...you HAVE to look at the big picture

Me and the wife just re-watched it, and I need to eat some crow.

T-Bob was pretty solid all game.

Those 2 plays by JJ were inexcusable, and I hope he hears about it all week. Hell, I hope his professors talk to him about it. Just dumb.

But JJ had a pretty good game besides that. He managed the offense really well.

Ridley= take away the fumbles and he has a great game. He ran like a wild man.

My only gripe was Miles, Crowton, or whomever taking their foot off the gas in the 2nd half. Straight handoffs (not draws) on 3rd and long? Really?

Our coaches need to develop a killer instinct, and stop worrying about whether people will think you are rubbing it in.

Taylor was solid up close, sucked on intermediate passes, and was above average on deep passes.

Mo Claiborne was pretty awesome in coverage, but needs to mature a bit. He'll be seeing double moves all season, after what happened in that game.

Hey Chief, why were our OLB's not in a read. . .or at least a slant zone? It was an easy call, but you never made it. . .

Nevis and Montgomery were obviously great. . .as was PP.

But did anyone see how fast Downs was out there? He got really quick in the offseason.

Ridley ran VERY well, and if he can stop fumbling, he will be a great SEC back. That said, he almost cost us the game. The fumble on the first drive of the second half killed our momentum, and of course the last one was just inexcusable. His TD that was called back for a bogus call was a great great run.

This was my biggest concern bc Ridley is an "inside the tackles" style runner so he will ALWAYS have big dudes swiping at the ball. I love his effort but he needs to realize the situation (I feel this will come with time).

Stampley is simply not an SEC FB IMO.

I rewatched and he was very bad. He just looked lost out there. Lets just put another OL (maybe T-Bob) at FB or as a blocking TE (similar has the Saints use Zack Strief) or just go with a single back set.

His quickness was evident last yr prior to getting hurt. He is lightning quick off the ball but if I remember correctly he might have some stamina issues (not his own fault) so he was to be used on a limited basis.

Well, you can't just look at 10 minutes of the game to talk about our overall performance either. In the BIG PICTURE, LSU dominated the game for 50 minutes. Up 20, holding UNC to less than 175 yards of offense.

Big picture, things were not as bad as everyone who is clinging to those last 10 minutes are trying to make it appear.

Those last 10 minutes were bad but it wasn't just LSU messing shite up. The zebras had their fair share of frickups that contributed.

I'm excited about the first 50 minutes and hopeful that the last 10 minutes will be corrected.

WEll, I hope you are not holding your breath B/c those same "10 minutes" you speak of occurred in almost every game last year...and the year before that for that matter. Don't think it will be corrected anytime soon

we didn't give up big plays last year. we gave up long drives that ended in field goals.

this defense was holding STRONG until they busted out 2 absolute bombs on us.

holding strong??? bmy, are you serious? Did you even watch the second half? Chavis went in to his good ole prevent-to-win in the second half, and they nickled and dimed us all the way down the field...which, by the way, opened the field up for those bombs on the blown coverages...there is nothing "STRONG" about that. it's pitiful, but not as pitiful as Crowton's playcalling.

I ask because he played a horrible 4th quarter and his mistakes were deadly. (I watched the replay and did some rewinding, freeze-framing and slo-mo examination of the two NC touchdown passes.)

The last one was terrible. 3rd and goal from the 14, the WR ran about a 3yd hitch with no pump fake and Taylor just absolutely bolted to the WR as he turned upfield and went to the endzone. You would never think he is a former CB sometimes.

Perfect pass but Lord he was out of position.

and it was working. up by 20 points and driving for more with 11 minutes remaining in the game.

we weren't in prevent fwiw. on at least one of those bombs the guy who was in man coverage simply got beat.

The emotion of the game can cause carziness,

Great post. Correct me if I'm wrong, but carziness is the feeling of car sickness (nausea) and craziness (unhinged Tiger fan) usually brought on by the emotion of a close LSU football game &/ or stupid loss or Everclear.

I, too, rode back on the MARTA. I felt sick, nauseated and unhinged. Now I know I just had a case of carziness.

I completely agree.

There's a video on the LSU website interviewing several players. All of them made a similar point: it is the first game of the season, there are going to be mistakes. What is important is to review the film, point out such areas, and improve upon them.

LSU fans have either gotten entirely too spoiled, or exponentially dumber.
