2 things:

1 -- SC still scored on the drive, so it didn't matter. If the ref was up to something fishy, he could have called some phantom penalty (you can see a lot of holding from the U position).

2 -- Garcia is cutting back and forth to use the ref as a screen (any decent running back would know to do that in the open field there) and the ref had to keep squared up to see what was going on. As soon as Garcia went straight towards the ref, he had to defend himself.

Colin Cowherd went apeshit about this yesterday, cutting off people who said that the play didn't matter and that the ref was used as a screen several times before, etc. He acted like he wanted a full federal investigation into this guy, when the play had nothing to do with the outcome of the game.

is that harry coleman flying in on the tackle on that play? if so that ref did garcia a favor..
