re: Really loving the team the more I think about it

I'm loving everything I hear about Harris, but I just read that Jennings has beefed up to 225 lbs., while Harris is still 188 (at 6'3"). That seems pretty thin to take an SEC beating. I wasn't aware that the weight discrepancy was that great.

LSU WAS two touchdowns better than Auburn in 07 we were beat by a touchdown by the referees nobody else !

I like the optimism but I'm extremely skeptical when Miles praises a young guy like Herron. It seemed kinda odd to me he gets all this praise right after the exaggerated reports on QT's injury in a position that's considered a possible weakness this year.
When Miles speak he often does so in code. You can usually take what he says as the opposite meaning. Do you guys remember a few years back when he made the bold comment "this is the best oline I've ever coached" and it turned out to be the worst under his time at LSU?

I think Miles likes to motivate those players he praises to some degree. What he says isn't for our consumption, a lot of the time...

He never said that...

walking up to a player and telling him he better finish with a 10 regular season wins. It's just how I belive the season will play out. Players coming to LSU already know the expectations are championships every year. You see it in a bunch of their interviews, and interviews while they are being recruited. You are not putting any extra burden on a guy by making a record prediction on a message board.
I dont think he implied the burden that would be placed on the players even exists. He was coming from a more balanced and mature perspective about simply letting go and watching it unfold.
Btw, the expectations of an incoming player to play for championships every year are just stupid. It should be a goal, not an expectation. Thats the kind of crap that makes players lose focus on each play. Have to believe in the process, not the product. Its how you have better concentration

So you want to see our QB(s) take 32 sacks because they can't pull the trigger? 96 passing yards at home against Florida?
Are you a moron?
Total rushing yards in 2009 minus QB and LaFell one run - 1412 yards
total rushing TDs in 2009 minus QB - 14
Total rushing yards by Hill in 10 games 3 quarters last year - 1401 yards
Total rushing TDs by Hill in 10 games 3 quarters last year - 16
Do you not see the difference? The OL was a natural disaster in 2009. The 09' and 13' OLs were on opposite ends of the spectrum. You have a true sophomore first year starting QB under the "tutelage" of Crowton, and his "scheme", with the worst OL in decades, and the worst run game since I don't know when. He did incredible that year despite being heavily disadvantaged.
What about Mett in 2012? Should I point you to his TAMU game? Maybe his UF game? Maybe the USCe game or Auburn game?
Despite that bad game against an incredible defense, JJ played admirably given what he had. Stats are better than both Russell, and Mett's first year starting.
If we get 2009 JJ, with this OL, with this run game, we could be really freaking good.

The OL was a natural disaster in 2009.
The middle pressure and absence of a pocket had much to do with the sacks.
I recall LaTech giving Lee fits at homecoming.

There are expectations at LSU to win every year. It's a top tier school. So yes championships are always on the mind. That being said we can always be thrilled with a 10 win season. Like mentioned before it takes a couple of breaks to win. (Last second touchdown pass against AU, trick field goal, 5/5 on fourth down).
This team is stellar. That has been the case this entire decade for the most part. There are always some little deficiencies. Some area where the team could be a little stronger. That's just the way it goes. Can't be completely perfect. My only fear is that the QB competition has gone on too long. Every school is starting to name their starter, and while I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, I assume we still haven't made a clear separation. I feel like that negates building chemistry with the WRs and offense in general. Pick one and go with it. If doesn't pan out halfway through the season, make a change. But don't risk them both by not choosing.
Hell. 12 days. Got to get it going.

I was just adding in my two cents to the mix just like everyone else has. Obviously I'm no collegiate genius like CCC or CLM. Unfortunately my last coaching job was pro bono. I coached a little league with my friend this past summer.

little league coach... did that myself for over 10 years with 2 sons. But that was baseball so we're only experts in baseball not football.

I played football through high school. Mediocre. Although we actually had this situation. Which is why I drew from personal experience. Our coach dragged the QB competition all the way till the second game. Irritated a ton of our players. I didn't care. I played D.
On a different note. I loved little league. We ran a spread offense. It was hilarious.
