We have a low red zone efficency because we never got to the red zone.
Doesn't make much sense. Efficiency has little do to with the number of times you get to the RZ. You are either efficient when you get to the RZ or you are not.

And if you throw less, you have fewer yards.
And if you have an OC and HC who refuses to pad stats in the 2nd half, you have fewer yards.
Yards is a terrible metric for a QB.
Agreed. I was under the impression the 107 was total passing factoring in yards, completion%, touchdowns, interceptions, sacks, etc. Strictly yards is a bad indication as you said.

finish the sentence. . .you are helping just me's case here.
so we don't throw the ball nearly as much as other teams. Of course, our qb stats will be ranked poorly.
i'm a JL over JJ guy but i won't bash JJ for having poor ranking when we aren't throwing as much as other teams. I will say his weakest link is that in the two games this season he is 2-11 on third down passing outside 4 yards where he is 4-5 at 4 and within.

Okay this stat is legit. All you ppl saying that its only two games does not make a difference. LSU is leading the nation in sacks, but I don't hear anyone saying that its only two games. Our offense really is that bad due to jj and playcalling...on the bright side defense makes this team watchable
Well, our pass D is 85th.
We are 108th in passes defended.
We don't even register for interceptions.
We are 113th for fumbles lost.
So some stats may not be representative of what will play out for the season.
But our passing game is looking similar to last year after the Vandy game (which is not the best thing). But things could change.
On the bright side, we are 28th in rushing. We'll see what happens after we play State, but if that keeps up it could make our offense a lot better.

Two early season games are really not anything for anyone to get excited about either way. When LSU gets to the heart of the SEC, stats will mean much more.
People read too much into JJ's last game. He recieved too much credit from some of his loyal fans before the game, and too little afterwards. Think I will wait until LSU has played a Bama, Auburn, Florida this year before getting too worried or excited.

Where is the 4th fumble lost coming from?
We had 4 fumbles lost in the UNC game? I guess they are counting the onside kick as officially a fumble lost. That's silly.
Still, we have been in the redzone 7 times in 2 games and only 4 times actually gotten points. Our 3 times we've failed are:
Fumble by Ridley
INT by JJ
Holding and the grounding by JJ
In the end, we've been our own worst enemy in the redzone. That is not a good sign and 57% efficiency is pitiful no matter how you look at it.
Hopefully we will improve.

Just a typical Crowton offense.

First we bitch because we don't have enough big plays. Then we score on several big plays so we bitch about not scoring enough in the red zone......after 2 games.

Where were these guys when it was shown that JJ led the nation in Red Zone scoring % last year? When JJ completed 60+% of his passes they minimized it by stating he only threw 4 yard passes. When he throws for less than 60% they complain about his low percentage. When he throws interception they complain. However, when last year he had better than 2 to 1 TD/Int ratio they never complimented him.
The Rant is open to the whole world. In this world there will be all types. So regardless of what JJ does there will be those who find fault for various personal reasons.
You will note that there is a group who constantly rant about JJ and never give him credit for anything. Its about 10 guys whom we all know. They claim he is not an SEC QB. He can't throw the long ball. He can't progress thru his reads. He is not a leader. He is not intelligent. Etc.
I think all can agree JJ had a terrible game. The issue is whether he can overcome and become a winning QB. Some on here believe he is incapable of improving. At this point no one knows, so their belief is based on prognostication. Only the future will dertermine whether they are correct or not, not their rantings on JJ. Obviously, the coaching staff does not agree. They obviouly feel JJ can be successful as LSU's starting QB.

He's always been intellectually dishonest.
He's by no means dumb. He knows full well what he's saying/posting.
His posts on the poliboars are similar.

After 2 games all of these stats are absolutely meaningless. Both defensively and offensively come back in 3 weeks and we will know where we stand.
Posted on 9/16/10 at 7:45 am to RobbBobb
these numbers are meaningless at this point in the season. i would say the same thing if were converted 100% after just 2 games. we have played about 15% of our games. the numbers are scewed because of an interception and a fumble (or two) in the red zone and a missed field goal. let's see how the season progresses before we label our red zone offense. statistics cannot be taken at face value; there is a story behind them that is the real issue. if we correct our fumbling, if our field goal kicker improves his accuracy to normal levels and if our qb either doesn't attempt many passes or throws better fade routes, we can greatly increase this.

Ridley's fumbles don't fall on the shoulders of JJ.
That was only one of our red zone failures. The others have been an interception by Jefferson, an intentional grounding by Jefferson (after a penalty on Hebert), and a missed FG after we could not punch it in. Two made FGs also followed failures to punch it in. One of the two successful (TD scored) trips to the red zone featured nothing but running plays (after the fumble recovery against Vandy). The other one was Jefferson's TD pass to Shepard against North Carolina.

Bingo!
All this stat tells us at this time considering our big play scoring, is that we have some here who will pretty much bitch bout anything.
