I give it a C.

But, that was definitely the gameplan. It seems that the LSU coaching staff simply wanted to eliminate all errors knowing that they would put up enough points. I think they knew they would be able to stop Oregon.

But, we can't be running the ball 48 times for every 22 that we pass it moving forward.

If you run the ball 50 times, gain almost 200 yards, control the clock, control the tempo of the game, and hang 40 points on the board, doesn't take a genius to realize that it was a well planned and executed game plan. It shows that your coaching staff knows what they are doing, they exploit the weaknesses of the opponent and play to their own team's strength.

Miles plays keep away play action football. Not surprised or upset. Pretty much expected. A+ for executing Miles' gameplan

B stands for "Better than Crowton"

I would have liked to have seen a little more variety, but I realize that it was the first game and the goal was to not put too much pressure on Lee, especially in the first half.

Offense didn't score 40 bro. I think we scored TDs twice on drives that started on the other side of the 50.

Look, I'm glad we won but the play calling wasn't all world buddy. They ran the FB twice straight in to the centers rump and ran the same three running plays 40 times.

I'm glad we won and give them credit but you ask me to grade the play calling I think it was C+

B+

I was frustrated in the first quarter how Stud didn't get Lee some easy throws to build his confidence. Lee's first throw was on an obvious passing down of 3rd and long. He didn't manage his liability that well.

That said, people calling for "Creativity" right now must have been unconscious during the Crowton era. All we had under Crowton was creativity. Give me EFFECTIVENESS. Stud ran what worked, and he kept running it. There was only one confused play (the bad snap), but otherwise, the team was always on the same page.

And running the hurry-up offense in the 2nd quarter was a classic move in the vein of "pressing teams don't like to be pressed". Stud exploited UO's weaknesses, and he did it ruthlessly.

It got called back, but that play action in the 4th quarter was a great play call.

Let me guess. You want lots and lots of downfield passes? You want triple reverse lateral passes? You want playground stuff?

The coaching staff totally figured out the Oregon defense and used the weapons and talents on hand to dominate them. Smart planning and play calling isn't a matter of elaborate trick plays. It is using the assets you have to your best advantage. The play calling reflected that. I am truly sorry that LSU disappointed you. I'm sorry that you want LSU to be TCU, but it won't happen under Miles. So be prepared for lots of disappointments.

Yeah. Not sure what they were thinking with the QB sneak there.

Gonna go with a B-

Rr needs to be thrown to more.

And I hate the short pitch up the middle that we ran numerous times.

Otherwise, I thought coach stud did a fine job executing the gameplan.

Not really but they could have ran four wide and and a delay or dive with Ford to spread them out. They could have ran some misdirection cut back. Instead, it was the same toss or dive everytime. I don't even think they ran any off tackle except when Ford bounced it outside.

It was what did in the Cotton Bowl and it's what we'll do all year. We're going to use playaction and downfield passing just enough to keep the defense honest and open the running lanes.

It's an actual offensive identity - something we missed under Crowton.

You are joking, right? The O did not score 40. Plus they didn't generate 4 TOs.

Why spread the field like that? UO is just as fast as LSU and their best defensive unit is their secondary. Our receivers, if you didn't notice, were dropping everything and we have a QB doesn't inspire a ton of confidence (he got better as the game went on, though).

LSU had a huge advantage on the lines. So Stud had a gameplan that exploited this advantage. He ran what worked, and his first quarter smashmouth which didn't move the football is what setup the third quarter outburst.

I never expected LSU to score 40 pts' on Oregon since all the fight hype. I think JL deserves some praise for managing the game & getting us a win in a big game.
