I, however, like it. He is dead on balls accurate with a lot of these observations.

The immense number of significant contributors that are underclassmen make this a young team. People saying otherwise are lying.

A lot of the fanbase hasn’t recovered from Miles being fired, despite their insistence so. Things excused for half a decade are now immediately brought up to critique O. It’s okay, just admit you miss Les.

Miles would often revert to conservative styles in ugly games that never pushed his teams to work on weaknesses like making plays in the passing game when the running game isn’t there. It’s never fun to watch but O was clearly trying to work on pain points.

The sprint to define this team is already exhausting and we haven’t yet hit October. Questioning whether this team makes a bowl isn’t you being a smart critic, it’s you content to be angry. The line is never straight. Embrace the journey.

Our SEC bias stands in the way of acknowledging solid non-con opponents that don’t meet the helmet test. This is the best team we’ve played thus far and they rank 51st in the S&P+, yet all people want to talk about is how “terrible” they are.

Change is difficult for most. We became accustomed to Miles, like him or not. This team feels foreign because we don’t yet know what’s on the other side.

Wow, now we have to justify struggling to a team not even rated in the Top 50. What a new high for this program

That's a breakdown of the fans, not a game.

LSU is averaging over 400 yards of offense, which, believe it or not, they only did four times in the Miles era.
The best football is still ahead of this team.

Is it wise to work on "pain points" during a competitive game, or is the point to win the game?

You don't work on stuff you don't have down pat during the game. That's what practice is for.

All I know is that Saturday night was the wrong kind of ugly winning and I'm fully puckered for a game vs fricking Troy.

Wait, so a team that lost at home to Middle Tennessee State is now considered solid competition?

Oh, and about using S&P+ at this point in the season...it has FSU ranked #3 and LSU ranked #12 ( LINK). Seem reliable to you?

If you ever played organized sports at any level you'd understand that practice is far different than an actual game.

Of course the point is to win a game, but when playing lesser opponents, it's a good chance to work on ALL facets of the offense, even if we're not yet good at it yet, because we'll certainly need to use it later against better teams. Practice just can't simulate real game action and pressure, no matter how hard you try.

Yeah, embrace the journey to 6-6 with 52 4/5 stars on our roster and the weakest the SEC has been in years. what a majestic journey to the sewer

Even though O isn't the answer, it was time for Les to go.

Against the likes of BYU, Chattanooga and Syracuse. Let's see if that holds true in SEC play. It didn't against MSU.

Football is literally and figuratively a game of inches. An inch here and an inch there makes a difference. As the defense kind of waxes and wanes with whatever the DL on the field has in the tank at the time of the snap, the offense seems to be taking 2 steps forward and 1 step backwards.

When things were clicking - a little - vs BYU, you could kind of see the pattern, the tapestry that Canada is trying to weave. It's just execution around the edges - a drop here, a very young guard getting caught out of position there -

But, we keep playing these young players and at some point, they'll be veterans - they've already played 1/3 of a season now.

And anyone who doesn't think O and company aren't working on the obvious problems just isn't paying attention. We had no penalties (or maybe just 1) until early in the 4th Quarter. We're not returning kicks all that well (apparent regression), but we're punting and covering punts better.

Every kicker/punter has played at critical moments. Every offensive lineman, whether he's 17 or 23 has played - I think except Deculus (but maybe he got in the early games). Every defensive lineman available for every game has played. We've played true freshmen at every position, I think, except TE and tackle (both ways).

Aranda is proven. Canada's scheme is mostly proven. The talent level on the team is pretty objectively verifiable. They're just inexperienced - couple that with off-season attrition, some off-the-field issues that are rightly being handled with suspensions and a few injuries, the team that is playing is just inexperienced.

That's actually the best problem to have - if you're going to have a problem at all - that problem cures itself over time.

This is actually dead on balls idiotic. But I love how our first 4 cupcake teams are supposed to be closet national championship contenders. Just like Fitz was probably going to win the Heisman which I believe I heard quite a bit. He's not. These teams aren't good. Our team isn't young. We have chosen to try and roll the dice by playing our young guys because they have more talent than our older guys. That doesn't mean you have a young team, it means you choose to make it a young team.

I don't miss Les Miles one bit. I embraced the hires and was actually looking forward to what was promised. Time and again the coaches promised huge change. Tons of talent and speed and everything was working as planned. All that spelled out a great season that could even turn magical if things went right.

Sorry but the train is off the track. The coaches can't close the games to everyone like they did practices and now the truth is coming out. They aren't prepared at all. No amount of hyping our cupcakes can make up for what our eyes are seeing on the field.

It's so refreshing to see some honesty on here. Why is it so fricking hard for some to admit that the team looks like shite all the way around? There are some depth issues but that's no excuse to get steamrolled by State whose average and struggle with a bad Syracuse team.

Uh, not sure what this writer has been watching, but we weren't "working on pain points" by throwing.

Our run game is just as bad as our passing game if not worse.

That's the biggest difference so far. Love it or hate it, at least Miles' teams had an identity and sometime we could lean on. This team doesn't know what the hell it wants to be.

Ace Midnight

you are a very level headed poster who seems to have played competitive sports at a reasonably high level before. you and a few others are the only reason I check back in occasionally. this board has been overrun by idiots that don't know shite about shinola. no matter what these yahoos say, O inherited a mess on the offense and we have a very young defense. if not for our DLine injuries I have no doubt our D would be much better. Miles had let recruiting for the trenches and LB's go to hell. if not for O we would have no one on the DL.
