I remember seeing a most a while back about a rail line that goes from DTLA (by LA Live) to very close to the Rose Bowl but I can't seem to find it now. Any LA Tigers here know what I'm talking about? Looking at where to stay for UCLA game.

Either take a tram 22 minutes or bus 81 38 minutes. Either costs just a few dollars.

Yellow line to Memorial Park station.
40(!) minute walk to stadium.

The Gold or Yellow Line runs from Union Station past Pasadena.

It's the Gold Line. The train ride is quick and easy. You have a good 2 mile walk after or there are usually shuttle buses, but it's a nice walk and the neighborhood around the Rose Bowl is beautiful. If it's a nice day, it's a great way to get there and often the fastest way out instead of getting stuck parking on the golf course.

This is correct. Went to a Rose Bowl game this way. Now, that was around new year's and this game is in the late summer. Not sure how hot it'll be, but that might make a difference. There are shuttles. We walked when I went.

Agreed. You can also park at stations along the line and take the rail if you want/need to drive but don’t want to wait 3 hours to get out of the Rose Bowl parking lot.

The walk to the stadium is nice and safe. There are also a few (trendy type) bars along or just off the walk route.

As others have said, the Gold Line will take you from Union Station to Pasadena. When I was stationed in SoCal, went to a UCLA-Arizona game in the Rose Bowl. We took one of the buses that ran from downtown to the Rose Bowl for the game.

I'm staying at the Pasadena Hilton. I'll have a car to sightsee on Saturday morning and Sunday.

I posted this about a month ago..........

You take the Gold line Metrorail from Downtown Union Station to the Memorial Park Station in Pasadena. From there you walk a couple of blocks to the Parsons Building where the free shuttles pick folks up. Get on the shuttle and it takes you right to the FRONT of the Rose Bowl. After the game catch the shuttle from the same spot, back to the Parsons building, walk back to Memorial Park station and take the Gold Line back to Union Station.

The fare for the Gold Line round trip is $3.50. Parking in the underground lot at Union station is $8.00 ALL DAY. I live in Los Angeles and have done this NUMEROUS times. Parking and traffic at the Rose Bowl is HORRENDUOUS. Drive up in there if you dare.....................

Here's the link to the instructions. Please book mark it for future reference. ;-)

How To Get To the Rose Bowl On Football Game Day

By the way, it is NOT dangerous to ride the Gold line to Pasadena. Anyone saying so must live in suburbia and never venture into any major city.
