I've searched and can't seem to find a definitive answer on this: who physically starts and stops the official game clock? Obviously the officials tell them when to do so, but it would seem that if a member of the home team's staff is pressing the buttons, there could be room for very slight manipulations which I was suspicious of last night.

LSU made more than one mistake with timing on that last drive. But, I can guarantee you time ran off the clock on two occasions AFTER the Refs motioned for the clock to stop. We lost 3-4 seconds that way during the last minute.

Exactly. That's why I'm curious as to who is physically pushing the buttons. It would seem obvious that a neutral party needs to do this

Without a doubt the clock operator was jigging the system. It happens at Auburn and Alabama every single time. But he was not our problem, our players lackadaisical effort in that last drive was.

You should be thanking him. If he had done a good job, les might still be the coach.

Clock operator is independent and has no affiliation w/ either school.

FU, we'll move on when we're ready, Hillary.

I thought it was terrible clock control and refs were definitely favoring Auburn. Need look no further than when LF almost had to slap the ref in the shoulder to get him to call the last time out. At least 5-7 seconds ran off the clock before it stopped.

I was never of the mindset of wanting to lose to fire our coach, so yes I'm concerned about a biased individual running the clock

Do you realize that in the review booth are the single review official and three personnel from the SEC office?

you don't need to go any further than our victory over ole miss in tiger stadium in '72. one second on the clock to make a final play thanks to the LSU timekeeper.

for years there was a sign at the ms/la border telling people to set their watches back one second because they were entering Louisiana.

I'm not convinced that blowing up our coaching staff four games into the season, um, "benafited" LSU.

Also, the '72 ole miss game was one of the reasons I'm suspicious of some clock operator shenanigans.

I've asked the same.

It's not just that game, I've found it always favors the home team (including LSU) if they need time or not.

So that prob answers the question.

If clock management wasn't for shite (as it's been throughout Miles' tenure), this is a non-issue.
