Question about Valentine and why some think he will be redshirted

If Valentine has been practicing with the team and looking good like some have been saying, why on earth do some of you feel that he will (or should) be redshirted? Let me give you some good reasons why he will not redshirt IF this is true;
1. Our depth at DT. This might be the worse our depth has been during the Miles era. If you have a guy that can contribute well to the rotation this year, you play him.
2. Our recent history with early departures. If Valentine has the potential some are saying to be a beast at DT, that means he will probably leave after three years anyway. Why waste the opportunity to get every snap you can out of him? A redshirt would be a waste. A redshirt sophomore and a junior are basically the same thing. You only redshirt project players that can't contribute now.
3. History has told us differently. Ricky Jean Francois sat out a whole regular season before finally playing in the postseason one year, and he did very well in that postseason.
4. This defense is a huge run stuffer away from being recognizably improved. If LSU can start forcing opponents to pass more, Chavis can start letting the pass rush rip a little more.
5. Much needed experience. Most here agree that this year is probably not OUR year, but next year it looks like we will MOST CERTAINLY be a contender for the playoff. Why not let all of our future stars take their beatings now?
I can't wait to see this full team all together on the field. I'm still not convinced, but I sure as hell am getting there!

Well, IF he is cleared this season (big if), I think he will probably play.
Particularly given our interior woes.

He was cleared by the NCAA, wtf is wrong with the conference officials?
bullshite IMO. Have not heard or read one legitimate reason he is not cleared

Most people assumed this wouldn't be the case since he wasn't here to work out at all this Summer, didn't report until camp was over, and was allegedly in terrible shape when he arrived.

The way the D line has played I promise you he is on the fast track to playing time. No way he redshirts if he can contribute. Why redshirt him if he can play, and you can drop one of the under-performers and open up a scholly.

He will play I'd cleared. He will only be here for three years

Because our DTs are better then him...

And you think we're lacking depth this year...

We have 9 players at the position on scholarship, numbers aren't the problem. The problem is most of them are either too young or not good enough. Losing an underperformer wouldn't hurt us at all and would probably help space out the numbers logjam (6 freshmen).
