Its called titleIX. Most womens sports are on full rides, the men have to make up for the 85 in football. It essentially makes all other mens sports except basketball suffer. That could someday change since it is slowly becoming a revenue producer.

Just off the top of my head I'll guess that in any given year out of the top 50 HS baseball prospects, 45 will go to MLB and 5 to college, and it's a miracle that the colleges even get that many.

Unlike colleges, MLB can make these top kids offers they can't refuse.

baseball is growing @ 11.7 - 30 would kill the growth, because the strong would get stronger & the tulames, ull, southern's, could not keep up

and his post season record in those 4 years is about as good as anyone in the country as well.

MLB gets best players

than colleges get guys who either really want to go to college or are drafted low enough to need to come to college.

college baseball is a much different sport now than it was in the 90s. IF LSU won 2 championships in 10 years that would be very impressive.

one of the best coaches in the country right now is Mike Martin at Florida State, they have NEVER missed the post season in his career at FSU. Made CWS 15 times, won conference championship a bunch of times, but he has NEVER won the national championship. They named the field after him and he is still coaching there. So they put him on the same level as Skip.

My point I want to win national championships no doubt, but even if we don't win 1 national championship in 10 years, but CPM is putting us in position to win it, I want to keep him around.
