Steele's D's had an adjustment to make and it affected that stat. But, he held leads and the D improved substantially as the year went on.
I understand the adjustment to a new system, valid point. The D was terrible vs Bama, Arkansas, and Ole Miss. Not sure what you're talking about as far as progress late in the year.

Have we reached the point where we're thanking coaches for walking out on us and going to a western division rival?

I know this was a surprise that was already done before the game and it NEVER leaked out. I know that our D was all world against the #2 offense in THE NATION. I know that you think it was all because Les told them to STAY PLASTERED that it's why it happened. I know Steele DID HIS FUKIN JOB unlike that fat bastard from last year

We've reached the point where we can see ways where a difficult lateral move is handled with class and not handled in that same manner

I'll miss his blitz packages with guys moving around pre-snap, something we never saw under Chavis

I won't miss us giving up 20+ points in every single game

Look you didn't even want him here and he did what's best for him and his family. All I'm saying is the way shite went down last year I'm giving him props for doing his job until the end and not having it turn out like last year man

I'll second that - the DEF prep and execution for the bowl game was spot on! No rumors, no distractions, just hard-nosed football. Props to him IRT how it was handled.

Now let's either promote coach O, or find a impact hire to keep moving fwd towards signing day, spring practice, and a NC 2016 season!

Really think if O wanted to be a DC it would be on his resume by now. Don't think that's a gig he's ever wanted, I could be wrong, but I see him as an associate head coach and D-line guy who doesn't wanna be up in the booth. Just my thoughts. But if he wants it I think it's his for the taking

Steeles defenses WERE BETTER THAN CHAVIS' last 3 years D's

no they weren't. I get that there's a need to bash all things Chavis, but stop making shite up.

Ironic coming from a guy with multiple posts about porn sites and gay slurs. What a douche bag.

Yep. His defense showed up ready to play when quite obviously, his mind was also on other things.

Good, insightful post. It's also Miles' way of doing things - quiet, professional, respectful. Whatever you want to say about wins and losses, we can be proud of the way Coach Miles handles things. Want to wonder about Chavis.

I am fine with Steele being gone. However, he did at least a good job the last two games. He FINALLY adjusted to fit the players and to matchup better with the opposition. Still, the previous 9 games can't just be suddenly overlooked because of this.

I do appreciate that Steele was a pro and didn't mail the bowl game in. As much as other coaches and the medial thinks Of Chavis, he acted like a damn 2 year old during and after the Music City Bowl last year. It's sad that a guy gets credit for just showing up and doing what he's supposed to do, but after last year, I can understand why.
