Probably discussed, but how likely is Buga LF7 to break LSU rushing records...

Posted on 7/15/16 at 8:35 pm
For context:
Career rushing yards (seasons played):
1 Kevin Faulk 4,557 (1995 1996 1997 1998)
2 Dalton Hilliard 4,050 (1982 1983 1984 1985)
3 Charles Alexander 4,035 (1975 1976 1977 1978)
4 Leonard Fournette 2,987 (2014 2015)
5 Harvey Williams 2,860 (1986 1987 1989 1990)
Buga needs 1571 rushing yards in 2016 to overtake #1 in 3 seasons.
Single season rushing yards:
1 Leonard Fournette 1,953 2015
Already owned.
Single game rushing yards:
1 Alley Broussard 250 2004 Ole Miss
2 Kevin Faulk 246 1996 Houston
3 Leonard Fournette 244 2015 Syracuse
4 Charles Alexander 237 1977 Oregon
5 Kevin Faulk 234 1995 Michigan State
6 Leonard Fournette 233 2015 Eastern Michigan
7 Cecil Collins 232 1997 Auburn
8 Charles Alexander 231 1977 Wyoming
9 Leonard Fournette 228 2015 Auburn
10 Rondell Mealey 222 1997 Notre Dame
Already owns spots 3,6,9 of top 10. Would likely own top spot if not for some 4th Q game flow.
Career rushing touchdowns:
1 Kevin Faulk 46 (1995 1996 1997 1998)
2 Dalton Hilliard 44 (1982 1983 1984 1985)
3 Charles Alexander 40 (1975 1976 1977 1978)
4 Leonard Fournette 32 (2014 2015)
Charles Scott 32 (2006 2007 2008 2009)
Buga needs 15 rushing TDs in 2016 to overtake #1 in 3 seasons.
Single season rushing touchdowns:
1 Leonard Fournette 22 2015
Already owned.
Single game rushing touchdowns:
1 Kevin Faulk 5 1997 Kentucky
2 Charles Alexander 4 1977 Oregon
Dalton Hilliard 4 1984 Kentucky
Harvey Williams 4 1990 Miami (OH)
Rondell Mealey 4 1996 New Mexico State
LaBrandon Toefield 4 2001 Utah State
Leonard Fournette 4 2015 Texas Tech
Needs 5 top match Kevin, 6 to solely own top spot.
IMO Buga will hold career rushing yards, career rushing TDs, single game rushing yards (Miles will let it happen this year), single season rushing yards, single season TDs. I think single game rushing TDs would mean Miles lets Buga run up stats, which is IMO not Miles nature.

Barring injury he leaves with his name on top of all those except maybe single game yards and tds.

Would've had over 300 against Syracuse had they not called back that long one.

I just hope he gets a national title
Posted on 7/15/16 at 8:51 pm to LSUFreek
IMHO Leonard would be happier with a National Championship than any of those records but I'm sure he will meet and exceed some of them.

I agree, although I think he gets most yards in a game. If he is close I think Les will let him have it.

barring injury (yeah, i'm looking at you God...), this will be the only one i can't see him getting... a tie is possible, but we'd have to have a blowout for this to happen, and with the way Miles likes to keep it cordial, i don't see this happening... if we had Urban Meyer or something, a dude that likes to run it up, then yeah...

I would love to see him break records but I dont think we will work him that hard. Guice should get more snaps and the passing game SHOULD be improved. But who knows, a couple of penalties last season held him from breaking records. Regardless, this season should be fun to watch

Les had multiple opportunities to let him break that record last year and didn't

Clean sweep...he'll get all the records, absent the unthinkable.

I think for the fact that he never broke it is a lesson learned.
Les kept saying there would he opportunities later and then there wasn't. Les isn't going to never let him break this record just to spite the kid.

Those stats put some perpesctive on him.
Those are some GREAT running backs that put up those numbers in 4 years and Leonard can likely beat almost all of them in 3.

I'm not sure he puts up the same numbers this season as he did last year. Wouldn't be surprised if Miles rests Buga much more early in the season and lets Guice take over. Fournette looked a bit gassed down the stretch at times, especially against the better defenses.
That being said, he probably still breaks most of these records

IIRC didn't he score 5 TD's in the bowl game???
Posted on 7/16/16 at 7:51 am to TeamLSU
Cancel previous post, Rushing TD's is the focus. I think he ties that record this year.
Posted on 7/16/16 at 8:12 am to drizztiger
If we average 180 ypg passing, defenses can't load up the box, and LF7 goes home with all the records.
