What is the status of Cat Barber? He got banged up towards the end of their last game.

He has been cleared to play.

Do you think Mickey is going to be ready Thursday?

What type of defense does NC St play? Zone or Man? Do they switch it up a lot?

It sounds like we need to get out on Lacey and Barber, whether that is Patterson, Quartermann, etc. I'm guessing they set a lot of perimeter screens?

I'm gonna rewatch their ACC Tournament games tonight and will be closely looking at this. I would assume we do a lot of switching on screens against NC State. Cannot go under a screen and allow some of NC State's players to get open looks at the 3 point line.

They are mostly a man to man team, but they could come out zone if they are worried about post defense.

I think so. Gotta see where his head is after really struggling down the stretch, but I'd think he knows he has a big opportunity with a lot of people watching him play.

Great, unbiased preview. 2 questions-
1) who does their frontcourt compare to? They seem to have decent size on paper, but low numbers.
2) any major guard play off the bench? We have Gray; do they have someone similar?

Certainly there is some bias in it but Im okay with it.

Certainly they don't have any players who are exceptional down low, but they have good players. They are used mostly for rebounding (which they are better than average at) and defense. Nothing really sticks out about them good or bad.

Nothing similar to Gray, but they do have a couple of 6'7" freshman who comes in and plays on the perimeter some. Noone comes off the bench under 6'7" though. They can go with a big lineup at times moving a 6'7" type player to 3.

He had the same chance against AU and just was flat and disinterested.....

First off SECT is nothing close to NCAAT. I also think he was struggling with the injury. Still, Mickey could come out flat. He hasn't played well lately, but I could easily see him bringing his game back up to the level we expect out of him.

Good review. I won't have to take off from work to watch this one. Then again, I might blow off Thursday and Friday and take the tournament in. It's a special time of the year. All the better with LSU in the mix.

Not to look ahead but what are your thoughts on a possible match up with the 1 seed? It seems like a good many people are predicting the winner of our game to beat Villanova

There's a reason Nova is a 1 seed; they are good. People are picking this 8/9 over Nova because both LSU and NC State have proven they can play with top notch teams. LSU nearly had UK beat and NC State has beaten Duke and UNC.

If you had to pick a 1 seed to lose before the sweet 16, Nova is the most obvious. That doesn't mean it will happen.

Did I put LSU in the sweet 16 in my bracket? Yes. However I don't put $ on my bracket so I mostly pick teams that I enjoy watching.

On paper it's a very even matchup size wise. Martin has a couple inches, so he should have a good rebounding game.

I really hope we leave it all out on the court. I can't stomach another Auburn-like game

Not trying to put the cart before the white palomino stallion, but do we know what timeslot we'd play in Saturday if we win on Thursday?

Was wondering to the same thing. I have a ticket to beer-fest but it will go un-used if my Tigers are on at the same time.

Beerfest is my favorite event BR has to offer.... They normally announce the game times late Thursday night. I will be purchasing Friday morning (hoping they dont sell out) as long as LSU doesnt play between 3:30 and 6.

Or after 6. Cause let's be honest who actually remembers anything the night of Zapps beer fest?
