Also wanna see some more O'neal Lochridge on the field.
I did not make as many practices and scrimmages this year as I have in the past, but based on what I saw, his defense needs work. Maybe I just caught him on off days.

That could explain it. I heard he can hit.

I agree 100%

Romero came up with some huge hits tonight but he's not on Papierski's level defensively.
I think Bryce Jordan was the other catcher during the scrimmages I saw, so I did not get to see Romero in action behind the plate much before tonight. Didn't Romero win defensive awards (gold gloves and shite) at LSUE? I am not saying he's as talented as Paps, but didn't he come here as a good defensive catcher? I ask because others are bashing his catching abilities in another thread.

No clue myself, but the pitchers didn't look willing to waste one in the dirt when Romero was in the game.
I only started this thread because I was under the impression that there was basically an open competition for all positions outside of catcher and center field. And that Mainieri would be rotating through guys until he found a combination he liked.

Can Jordan play 1B so that Romero can DH?

When will he break out of this slump?!
Alright, since my original question has been answered in that CPM will likely make no changes to the starting 9. How about the batting order?
Can Duplantis lead off? With the contact Papierski was making can he bat clean-up?
I'm going to throw something out, and probably get told that I am an idiot. But hey, that's what the internet is for.
1. Deichmann
2. Bryce Jordan
3. Fraley
4. Paps
5. Beau Jordan
6. Duplantis
7. Robertson (was autocorrected to Robinson after a typo the first time)
8. Freeman
9. Dawson
I think leadoff is too much pressure for a freshman this early in the year.

No one is going to have a good opinion until we see these guys play a few games and who is robinson?

The lineup should be the same tomorrow. You don't change things based on 1 game.
I disagree. Based on what I saw last night, Robertson shouldn't be the lead off hitter. I would go with Duplantis as the lead off and move Robertson to the 7-hole. The only other change I would make is Romero would move to the DH spot in place of Bryce Jordan. If Deichmann and Freeman don't step up at the plate, on Sunday I would insert Wofford (1B) and Lochridge (3B) into the lineup and see if they can produce some offense and let Romero play catcher, with Paps at DH.
Duplantis (RF)
Beau Jordan (LF)
Fraley (CF)
Romero (DH)
Deichmann (1B)
Papierski (C)
Robertson (2B)
Freeman (3B)
Dawson (SS)

What's your reasoning behind inserting Romero at C while DH? If its to give Papierski a breather I understand.
Posted on 2/20/16 at 10:02 am to Kim Jong Ir
In a couple weeks, when CPM gets off the Robertson train which I have feeling may happen especially around the first few weeks into SECs. I believe he'll possibly move Deichmann over and try out Romero at 1st. Similar to the Hale situation two years ago, but not unlike Foster coming in to 2nd in the offseason last year.

This is my point. I am not saying that changes won't be made (of course they will), but this is baseball and you don't make decisions like this based on 1 game.

Romero played some first in high school too

Because Ramero is the back up catcher, give Papierski a break on Sunday and let him DH in place of Romero.

1 game or not, Robertson does not need to be in the lead off spot. He couldn't hit last year, and he can't hit this year. He did hit a double last night, but overall he went 1 for 6. Duplantis went 1 for 4 and had a better on base percentage, he should lead off. We need base runners when Fraley comes up to bat.

I don't think benching Deichmann is that ridiculous. 0-3 today reached on an error, thrown out at 3rd. His error led to a run
