Is it that the whole foot has to be in bounds? Otherwise Bama's boosters are paying big money to reduce INTs

I think ATM got hosed on that call, IMO.
Think about it like this.... as a receiver, if you were diving/ jumping to catch a ball on the sideline, as you/ ball go out of bounds, all you have to do (in college) is come down with one foot (can be the tips of toes, as you drag a foot as you go out of bounds) while possessing the ball.
Simply put, I think the catch was good, no doubt.
