What the hell was his deal yesterday? I mean I know that he was going up against a really good WR and a QB that made okay throws to him, but if he's the best corner in the nation, how can he allow Julio Jones and Maze to have that many catches on him?

McElroy made some really good throws. People will try to all out defend him and say that's the reason why, but Peterson was off yesterday.

Do we have to go through this shite again? Did you not watch the game and the throws the QB was making? The only real plays PP was out of position was the deep ball he still broke up and the TD pass where he was a inch from making the play. He was out of position on the deep ball only because he stumbled and he even turned his head to make the play. The PI call could go either way because it looked like PP got his hands in there right before he caught it but it was very close...

People are acting like they had 3 steps on him every single time they made a catch.

Call it defending him or whatever but he had good coverage all day. The only catches I was disappointed in was when PP let the WR get in front of him for an easy grab. The Maze catch down the sideline and the one over Jones' shoulder were great plays by the WR and perfect throws. He really couldn't get much better coverage.

McElroy played a great game, I'll give him credit. But Peterson had an off day for his standards; realistically though, he didn't do bad.

First of all Maze did not catch anything on Peterson. Second, being on an island in lockup with a 6'4 220 pound beast and holding him to 89 yards on 10 catches, is pretty impressive given that LSU was in cover 0 for most of the day.

we beat a top 5 and defending NC team and you still have to find something to bitch about.

JJ was pretty much held in check...less than 100 yards and a late TD

Maze and Jones averaged 9 ypc. Tough to defend short routes.

Does anyone know how much of this was actually against Peterson.

Not all JJ's catches were on PP either. I don't recall Maze having any on PP because 90% of the time he was locked up on JJ.

McElroy had some dead on, awesome throws. He had a good day, and LSU still won. The drop by JJ late in the game was a shocker, as Bama's receivers are usually spot on. PP wasn't perfect, but good enough to keep the receivers honest. I was really impressed with how the freshmen played on D.

Double BOOM.

Oh yeah, and knocked super dude Richardson smooth out of the game.

The Julio touchdown was perfectly executed by them. Even so, PP was in his back pocket.

A perfectly thrown short slant to a big receiver is impossible to defend one on one.

Quit complaining.

I just wish he woulda gone low on Richardson at the goalline like he did later in the game against Julio. Had he done that it wouldn't have been a TD. O well, he's the least of my worries.

PP was locked up 1-1 on Julio most of the game.

This allowed us to keep the safeties, over the top of the other receivers, blitz the LB'ers, and keep enough guys in the box to cover the run.

This is also why you saw McElroy have to go after PP because there was double coverage on the other guys most of the game.

McElroy made some good throws, if JJ runs a good route with his size in single coverage and the pass is good, its impossible to defend. PP was always in position to make the tackle and minimize the damage.

He is good, but nowhere near as good as the media hype that annointed him the best corner in college.
