Although this has been done to death, I believe I have a very real answer to why we threw the ball once in the fourth. Our defense was gassed, obviously, and we wanted to give them as many breathing opportunities as possible. Poor guys were outstanding all game

Getting first downs helps more.

Move the ball, get first downs, score points. That's the best recipe for helping the defense.

This was the anti-jared-lee game plan. We had the lead and had good qb play so far but didn't want to jeopardize having a qb meltdown if mistakes were made by BH. So, far the sake of the remainder of the season, the coaches protected the "BH didn't screw up" situation.

LSU had one single meaningful non-3rd down completion in the first half...I feel like I am taking crazy pills here...as far as I can tell, the only difference between a wide-open offense drive and a conservative drive is whether or not a TD is scored.

Yes, and keep Dak off the field cos we saw what happened when he was on the field.

I agree. However, although there is more time taken off of the game clock with a running offense, it does not take up more actual (breath catching) time unless it results in a fresh set of downs.

Passing (although it does not take up more game clock), could also keep us on the field longer AND.... SCORE????

BH said 25 passing plays were called and he checked out of 11 of them to a run.

The drive after facemask penalty was killed in the 3rd with 3 consecutive passes so there's that.
