2000 - 8-4
2001 - 9-3
2002 - 8-4
2003 - 11-1
2004 - 9-3

2005 - 10-2
2006 - 10-2
2007 - 10-2
2008 - 7-5

But you're right... going 8-4 is completely unacceptable and shows that Les Miles is too lackadaisical of a coach. He should definitely be fired for not making the SEC Championship in a down year and then again in a rebuilding year.

It is not all fire and brimstone. We've done what we've had to do.

But the problem is we have all the talent but its not showing, im tired of its a rebuilding year excuse cause its not. Miles has talent but he not letting the coordinator(pretty much only offensively) use it to its fullest!

We have YOUNG talent. The players may be athletic freaks, but they still have to know the fundamentals of the game. The fact of the matter is that we're only a No.7 team because the teams in front of us lost. Your expectations are too high for what the team realistically is right now. We have the tools to be a very very good team down the road, but that's going to be a slow process.

The point I'm trying to make looks more like this.

On offense, we're very young at QB, we're trying Scott in the FB position that he doesn't quite seem comfortable with yet.. two new starters on the OL. Dworcyzk and Hebert are Sophs. We have good talent at the WR position, but Toliver has never shown himself to be a consistent threat and Jackson has been a back-up his entire career. Richard Dickson is a nice threat at TE, but he was out for most of last weekend's game and will miss some time. I believe the backup is DeAngelo Peterson a Soph, who was recently converted to the position.

The defense I won't comment on because they have looked good and I don't feel the need to address their flaws.

Our O has way too much talent to be looking the way they are, weather young or not, they dont even look like they are fulling utilizing their talent. I wouldnt mind if their talent was evident on the field but just being cautious since it still "young"

That's definitely true... but the belief I held in the beginning of the season was that we really didn't know what we had on offense. As much as people like to bash them for their performance last year, the O-Line did one hell of a job after teams started loading the box to stop the run. It seems as though we're seeing the same trend this year and the O-Line isn't picking it up as well as it had last year. I attribute this to the lack of experience in Hebert and Dworcyzk as well as the natural time needed for an offensive line to gel.

The loss of Quinn Johnson, however, appears to be huge and will be something in need to address immediately.

This is the missing key on our O if you ask me.

At this point I'd have to say no.

We should be 3-0 versus the teams we've played. Just because USC laid an egg doesn't mean I count UW as a game we should not have expected to win.

So to say yes just because we are 3-0 is a bit to Pollyanna, homerish rah-rah stuff.

So I vote no for the here and now, but still hold out hope that we can improve and play better.

I expected 9-3 before the year and should we accomplish that or better I will almost certainly be pleased bowl game not withstanding.

I Vote Yes. I may or may not Vote that way after the Georgia or Florida Games. My vote will depend on how much the LSU Team and Coaching Staff improves from here on out on Offense and Defense.

If Tiger fans think LSU has been less than stellar, then they should look around the country at the rest of the teams.

I agree with this statement.

quote:

The ONLY team that has been impressive to me after 3 weeks is the U. I know Miami plays in the ACC, but right now, I don't think there is a team in the ACC that can match the Canes' speed and athleticism. The Canes talent level is moving back to where it once was, which is damn good.

Amen. I think that Miami should be ranked #1 in the polls based on the football that I have seen played. The Monday night Miami - Florida State game has been by far the most exciting and entertaining to watch thus far this season. I think after seeing the performance of Florida against Tenn (no blowout as predicted), watching Texas Tech move the ball on Texas, and the first half performance of Alabama.....all 3 are OverRated and OverRanked. And Ole Miss at number 4 in the AP and #5 in the Coaches poll....well take a guess what I think about that. Until Ole Miss actually defeats someone besides Memphis and Southeastern from Hammond, LA...they shouldn't even be ranked in the top 10 no matter what SI has to say about Mr. Jevan Sneed. I personally think that Mallett is a better QB.

I also think that Michigan should be ranked 2nd behind Miami.

quote:

I will let the heart of the SEC schedule be the judge of how good this LSU team will be.

So will I. I think that we'll win against Miss St easily. We'll see what happens against Georgia and Florida. We have the talent and the ability to win both of those games, we'll just have to wait and see if the coaches can come up with the right game plan and call the right plays on offense and defense. We will also have to wait and see if the LSU players display the confidence needed to win and if they put their hearts into winning those games.

Leonides, thanks for an intelligent and sensible post worth reading.

Yes.

Ol' Petey losing to UDub yesterday makes that Tiger win in Seattle look much more impressive.

Hell, even the ESPN guys commented that maybe The Hat was right when he said they were a pretty good team.
