Brady was always looking for the next Kevin Garnett. He liked recruiting 6'11 skinny guys. He would get NBA level big men, then not recruit shooters for them to kick it out to, or a PG to get them the ball

Consistent top 25 at Stanford. Brought them to the elite 8. What most people don't understand about basketball recruiting is that it is mostly done during kids' junior year, so by the time TJ got here most of the juniors and seniors had already committed and/or signed somewhere, which is why it took until his third year to sign a top 25 class. Now that he has been here and won an SEC championship, this trend should continue. I am confident that we can become a consistent tournament team in the next few years, which is something that only about 3 SEC schools can say (Kentucky, fla, vandy)

I hope TJ excells at LSU, but my worry is that he is not a good engouh X's & O's guy to get it done. He had a lot of talent at Stanford, but he has enough talent on this years team to beat the likes of the Nicholls State's of this world. He seems to be coming up short a lot.

Ok you cant be serious. Brady was one of the worst X's and O's coach LSU has ever seen.

Yes he was, but I don't remember him losing to Nichols State.

what's with the Nichols State bashing? Yes, LSU should beat them all the time. But Nichols isn't allowed a good team? They had the best player on the court, period. These small schools hit with big with lightly recruited players sometimes, geez. Its not the end of the world for LSU basketball.
ESPN is doing stories on the guy, he's good. It's ok, LSU won't implode because of it

Teams better than LSU lose to teams worse than Nicholls all the time. It's a part of college basketball. I don't like it, but that's how it is. It happened Brady, Dale Brown and plenty of established programs around the country. It seems like the loss to Nicholls was like the Bat signal for idiots.

and Coastal Carolina, Witchita State, and N. Texas? plus need OT to beat McNeese
(all in the first half of the season)
Maybe it is not a Bat signal for idiots, but a wake up call for TJ.

hahaha, Coastal, Wichita and North Texas are all top 100 RPI teams
just because TIGERSby10 hasn't heard of the schools doesnt make them bad. And most of the SEC teams in the SEC has lost to teams worse than the ones LSU has lost to. Tennessee lost to Charlotte and Oakland a couple weeks ago...

The school, Oakland, actually isn't in Oakland, CA. But I bet you already knew that didn't you? It's in Rochester, Michigan.

let's hope TJ has some tower twins in his sight- we could not even dominate SU and they were shooting under 20%

I thought they hit for 30%? Either way, if you can play Derenbecker and Bass for a combined 40 minutes and beat anyone by 20 you didn't have a bad night.
I personally like Trent as a basketball strategist, but I'm not sure in terms of his recruiting and his choices concerning his coaching staff. The guy was signed to a 5 year deal, and that's a good number for basketball coaches. In 5 years there will be no excuses and the cards will be on the table. Hopefully at that time we are kicking arse and taking names, but if not we'll get to do it all over again with someone else.

Can we stop defending recruiting by saying a player is a top 150 recruit. This isn't football. A lot of those lower 150 players aren't great talents. Trent needs to sign a couple of big time prospects i.e Obryant; to be successful.
Those lower 150 prospects usually need some years to develop. Turner, Stringer, and Derenbecker will be really good come junior, senior year.

For real tigersby10? That's the thing that most people say is Trent Johnson best asset. His x's and o's definetly aren't the problem
