Yeah and then players lose for respect for the coach and start losing to teams such as Washington last year and Stanford in 2007. Pete Carroll had problems getting his teams up for the lesser games. USC found ways to screw themselves out of the NC game in 2006 and 2007 by losing to sub-par teams. As much crap as we give Coach Miles for almost keeping us out of the big game in 2007, Pete Carroll actually accomplished that in multiple seasons.

Pete surrounded himself with great assistants. When he lost them it showed.

He's a lot like Miles imo. Great guy, great recruiter, players' coach...cept he can put together coherent thoughts.

most people on here are blinded with their hatred for pete due to the 03 season. only an ignorant fool would deny that pete is a great coach.

IF miles was to be let go i would have no problem with bringing in a coach who has won multiple big games and is a great recruiter.

As good as he was at winning the big game, he'd still find a way to screw the pooch against terrible teams and cost USC a chance to play for the title. However he'd really expand LSU's recruiting base with his connections in California and his nationwide profile.

Most athletic programs are not as clean as you would think. Remember what we uncovered just this past season with McCarthy?

Sure and Miles acted swiftly. I agree no program is squeaky clean, but it was the action of an assistant that was handled by the headcoach.

not saying your a miles basher but we have a coach with integrity who most on this board despise due to not winning games. Then when a coach that has a iffy rep but wins games and players love to play for could possibly come to LSU in the future(not very likely) people dont want him.

Pete Carroll sucks! He was a total failure in the pros. The only reason for his success at USC was the draw that the blond cheerleaders were for recruiting. Wouldn't you?
