Not saying Hess did well because he didnt. I am saying he was on an inning restriction which means he isnt 100%. First game of the season also.

Hess will regain his form in the near future. Or he won't. PM has other options if he doesn't.

Exactly. I think the talking point should be more about how many options we have vs how one outing means it's time to panic.

Forget Hess, he's our closer.

LSU has a closer in Peterson. LSU has a 8th inning set up guy in Fontenot. LSU has a lot of options for middle relief. What LSU doesn’t have right now is a rotation. They have a couple of guys that can be starters but two are freshman one is coming off of a year off due to surgery and one is Hess. Which of those do you think was the best to start on Fridays right now coming into the season? Especially when you throw in the fact CPM likes to throw his most veteran starter in opening night. If the two freshman and Walker work out then great Hess can go to the already deep bullpen. If not then we will need Hess to fit somewhere on the weekend rotation. May not be the Friday guy but it would have to be somewhere. It’s game 1 things will change.

Give Hess opportunities during the week against other powerhouse clubs like UL-Monroe, but not on Fridays.

I don't see Hess as a starter, hopefully he can get back to a closer roll

It was also the first game, calm down.

My only complaint on PM is leaving a starter in waaayyy to long, then using 5 pitchers after pulling starter.

Hess came back to be a weekend starter, and that's what he's gonna be until he proves that he can't hold that position down. One game doesn't mean crap, and neither does last year. He'll get the opportunity to prove his worth over the next few weeks. If he falters then Mainieri will adjust.

How do you know he doesn’t? Again, it’s been one fricking game and here you are comparing it to Giles like it’s been going all all season which is ridiculous.

Why can't we see what shakes with LSU's talented and deep pitching?

In ONE GAME?

A PM trait that constantly comes back to bite Tiger fans and players in the arse!

Most posters were just stirring the pot innocently.

The overreaction was by those with a broken sarcasm meter.

The below quote perfectly describes Hess' main issue last year, even though it was only one inning, nothing's changed!

Hess gets the easy two strikes and then tries too hard

You have me confused with a coach for LSU baseball. Hess is not LSU's Friday night ACE. Ask Von Rosenberg, he'll tell you the same thing. Rosenberg only pitched and won four state titles and played Pro ball.

Stick to your bad comparison dude.

Hess = incredibly talented with sparks and flashes of greatness
PM = championship winning coach who gets the benefit of the doubt

Giles = average player with no signs of talent on the field, actually was a huge weakness on the team when he played
O = coach with no proven record that does not show good decision making to get the benefit of the doubt

He’s not stubborn, Hess wasn’t coming back unless he was a starter. Paul is following through with what he needed to do to keep him here. If he sucks by SEC he’ll get moved.

Why does everyone in favor of keeping Hess as the Friday night guy keep saying one game, one game? It’s not one game. His ERA over last season was over 5 as the Friday night guy. Then he gets lit up last night. It’s much more than one game.

I hope that Marcauex can step up and be the guy everyone is saying and we can swap him and Hess. I don’t necessarily have an issue keeping Hess in the rotation, but he’s not a Friday night guy.
