I attempted to listen to the press conference on ESPN radio, but it was in and out and they finally just gave up. They blamed it on LSU. Anyways...

- Coach PM said they would decide on a closer before Sunday starter. Sounded like Rumbelow closing and Bonvillain would get first crack at Sunday.

- Nola or Eades will start Friday night.

- He compared Stevenson's athletic ability to Mahtook.

- Rhymes will bat 4th and Katz 5th. The other 2 outfielders would likely bat 1 & 2.

- Jones needs to be more consistent with his bat

- PM has never been around a harder worker than Bregman. He said Bregman will be a great hitter. Ranked his glove at a 7 at SS.

Coach was gushing overall about the team and athleticism they have this season. He sounded real excited. Hopefully someone else could shed some light on what was missed after the broadcast stopped.

also said they are changing his swing and he's not as consistent as he needs to be yet. Said his swing was too much of an uppercut. Said stevenson is prolly the best defensive OF we have.

Laird is very fast and slaps the ball around, not really a power guy. Said he thinks he can hit over .300 as a freshman, plays good D as well.

Scaimbra has become a more complete hitter, most instinctive OF but does not have the wheels of Laird or Stevenson.

McMullen is good as well, but again needs to be more consistent.

Katz seems to be locked in at 1B, per his interview.

that puts bregman hitting 3rd I guess.

Said Jacoby needs to make contact more consistently but has major league ability.

Wait, does this mean Rhymes or Katz will play in OF? Seems weird either way. I was thinking it would be Stevenson, Sciambra and McMullen out there then Katz at 1B and Rhymes at DH.

I have questioned Mainieri's lineups the last few years. You don't put your best two hitters at the 4 and 5 spots. Over the course of a season, the 4 and 5 spots will get about 12-15 less at bats than the 2 and 3 hole hitters. I never could understand how Mainieri batted Mikie Mahtook clean-up instead of third.

Rhymes and Katz should be 3rd and 4th in the lineup, and I might seriously consider batting them 2nd and 3rd. Get those guys to the plate as often as possible. I'd rather them batting 2nd and 3rd than putting an automatic out in the 2 hole just for him to bunt in case the leadoff reaches base.

I realize these are just my opinions, and I have never won a NCAA Championship like Mainieri has. But then again, I never lost a home Super Regional to Stony Brook because of poor run support either.

PM wants to help his draft stock, IMO

But the excuse he gave was, Raph will hit better if he's playing in the field and in "in the flow of the game"

his words, not mine.

I know, maybe that's why Raph is in LF too.

these guys are fast and have potential, but are ready right now, thats the question...

From the interview, I guess its Raph in LF and I hope Scambria and Laird in the other 2 spots

He said McMullen seems all world sometime but it comes in spurts and he's not consistent enough.
