We need Alex Lange to pitch at the high level like he did this year. I hope somebody will develop enough to pass Jared Poché in the rotation. If we had a rotation of Lange and another super stud dominating guy and Jared Poché was your third-best starter, that’d be a pretty good staff.

When Alex Bregman came here as a freshman, we didn’t know he was going to be that caliber of a shortstop. A lot of people thought catcher was the position he should play. In fact, the summer before he came to school here, he wasn’t even playing shortstop. He was catching. Only because I encouraged him to take groundballs every day and that I wanted to look at him at short first that he prepare himself to try to be the shortstop here.

Good for Paul but really goes to show the athleticism of Bregs...

Asked question about one of the LSU greats of all time:

First of all, what an eight-year run this has been for me as the coach at LSU

And the wind of public opinion finally begins to shift. Has it really taken this long for people to become disenchanted with Paul?

I've said for years that his record is good because of his players not because of his merits as a coach.

Say what you want about Les and his gaffes. At least he doesn't throw his players under the bus while talking about how great he is.

Ego bigger than the state he coaches in. I really dislike him despite his results at the helm.

So let me see............

Jared Poche was good enough to start the opening game of the CWS this year but now he is basically hoping he's all but out of the rotation?

If I read between the lines, he must have thrown up the white flag the moment the team arrived in Omaha.

wonder how Poche will feel when he reads that. That was an unneccasary comment that does nothing but single out one player for not being good enough.

You can only bitch so much at a coach who took his team to Omaha.

I didn't see Nick Saban saying all season that they were the #1 team in the playoff system but really that's about the best you could expect and that it's really not his fault they didn't win the next two games.

I think he made the right call with Bregman's position and it paid off, he would never have been a MLB catcher

Yeah. That's a pretty shitty thing to say about a kid who was a major part of the team's success this year.

Man he really shite on Poche. That's pretty shitty to say about a guy you're gonna rely on next year.

How would Mainieri feel if Joe Alleva publicly said:

"I hope somebody will develop enough to take Paul Mainieri's job as head coach at LSU?"
