He really wants to put Poche in the bullpen and LSU is limited with left handed options at this point.

Still think they should have let Bugg develop into that 3rd starter.

He's not free of blame. I bitch about things he does. I'm just saying you can only bitch so much.

Somebody needs to tell Paul that.

After Poche's junior season Paul won't understand why he leaves, its cause players don't like him.

Wait, he actually said this? I hope he meant and maybe he should have said, "We really want Poche' in the bullpen, so we are hoping somebody will develop to take his spot in the rotation".

This would have sounded a lot better and this has to be what he meant.

Is he trying to make people hate him?

Someone on this site said Bugg wasn't doing summer ball this year to instead hit the weights more and build up his strenght. Dillon Tate did the same thing last year. I know we can't expect that Bugg will suddenly become a first rounder, but it may turn him into a starter.

He knows that he is immune from criticism from about half of our fanbase no matter what he says or does.

It's really like he hates most of the fanbase.

Wait, so do I. I guess he's not always wrong.

It was the PLAYERS that took the team to Omaha, you dolt.

wonder how Poche will feel when he reads that. That was an unneccasary comment that does nothing but single out one player for not being good enough.

As per usual, we all know Paul is pretty blunt, but when he does these things, he's not being untruthful.

Poche is a solid pitcher who at times has had some great games but also isn't a dominant pitcher by any stretch of the imagination.

I hope Poche reads this and transfers. I've never heard a coach talk about a player in that way. This will not end well. I predict right now this is the end for Paul Mainieri. I expect Bertman to pay him a visit and explain to him how many ways to jesus that this is a fricked up thing to say about a kid. Until now I've been on the fence about the whole throwing under the bus thing. But now I have lost all respect for Mainieri.

Hey I hope Andy Cannizaro can become better at coaching and get to the point that he passes up Mainieri. I can imagine a pretty good team if only Mainieri was just the 3rd best coach on the roster.

No one will say that we don't want our pitchers to be better, but there was no reason to call out Poche and say that he wasn't good enough. just leave your answer generic and say that we need to improve our starting pitching rotation behind lange.

I'm not disagreeing with anything you said, just saying this is Paul Mainieri, and this shouldn't surprise anyone. He does this stuff all the time. He has no problem singling out guys and telling it like it is to the media. Miles is the polar opposite.

I understand he wants a better rotation but that was uncalled for and very disrespectful to single out Poche like that. Yes he had his moments where he struggled but he has been a major contributor all season and had some of his best play in the post season. Just say we need to improve on the mound and move on. Its awful that a coach would publicly sham his own player that way. If anything that needs to be called out, its PM and how he handles his pitching rotation. We can never seem to hit the ball either in the post season. I fault coaching way more than the players.

Such a humble man, giving all the credit to his players and taking all of the blame when it comes down.

Yeah, not like Corbin who succeeds year in and year out with low level talents like Fulmer and Swanson.

So you start him in game 1.. That's kinda hypocritical of Paul.

And YES I believe it was the wrong move and I said so on Thursday before the CWS that it was a bad move.

...and yet he'd still manage to fail in the postseason.
