Pap's offense is offensive. Defense Defensless. No legitimate excuse to keep running

him out there. Another example of a High School stud that topped out too soon.

If we had another healthy catcher like coomes or romero, im sure they would be out there

Pap had 2 hits last night. I don't know how many dirt balls Lange threw, but I doubt Romero would have been an upgrade there. Coomes is hurt. Maybe you want Beau behind the plate?

Pap needs some consistency, but he also needs an arm. We basically give second to anyone without a prosthesis.

Coomes caught tues night. He got hurt after that?

Ugh, what? Pap's arm has been solid and is easily his best asset

He had an injury before that and it showed once or twice during the game wednesday when he came in late to catch after a strikeout to end the inning

I disagree and think his arm is pretty darn good. the problem with many steals is that they are stolen on the pitcher, not the catcher. if the runner gets a good jump the catcher doesn't have a chance. I think Pap's defense is good. I have only seen one passed ball by him and I have watched most of every game. our pitchers have a strong propensity to throw the ball in the dirt, even fast balls. hell, a game with LSU pitching (not all of them) is like the practice catchers go thru where they teach them how to block balls in the dirt; an extended practice. he probably has bruises all over his chest area the next day.
now, his hitting is pretty bad. the poor kid just doesn't have it. it's to the point where it's a surprise when he does get a hit and a relief when he walks.
but frankly, Romero hasn't been good at the plate this year and neither has Coomes and neither are as good behind the plate.
I just can't imagine catching Alex Lange.

I agree

There is one legitimate excuse actually two. None of the catcher are hitting so you go with the best defensive option and Lange probably request Pap catch him. Pitchers have a huge say in who is catching them.

Yet his BA is about the same as Pap's---. We know Romero can hit. Look at what he did at LSU-E and here last season. That being said, Romero needs to be the DH because of his shoulder. Just stick him there and don't look back. The only time this season that he started all 3 weekend games he went 4 for 10 and that was against the best competition we've faced this year. And he would not have even started the Friday game if another player, who was going to start at DH, had not appeared to Coach's gut as being sufficiently motivated and focused in BP.

Bitching about pap's arm? Lol. There's plenty to criticize but his arm ain't one.

I heard Hunt P saying the other day that neither Coomes or Romero are healthy enough at this point to be full time catchers. I may have misheard but if that's the case, Pap is who we have

Pap hit in the postseason last year after Romero went in a slump. People seem to forget that. Not endorsing Pap's bat at all but people act like Romero was an all American last year. He had a good month. Top SEC teams figured out he couldn't hit off speed and he slumped. Pap came back in and played great d and hit late in the year.

I agree it's his best asset. He still delivers crap throws
For an offensive handicap, his defensive abilities should be dominant

Kid turned down pro ball. Has all the talent. Could it be CPM sucks at developing players? If he hasn't gotten better that is on the coaching staff. There is more to this then putting your face on everything and press conferences totting your on horn!!

How bout you get the catcher's mitt out and dig out Langes' many dirt balls moving at 90 MPH which he wildly threw last nite.
After last nite alone Lange should take Pap out to Chris' Steak Housein appreciation

Coomes is fine. No injury keeping out of lineup. Not sure where your getting this.
