over half of major league catchers bat about what he is batting; .250 or so. so yes, he might make the bigs.

Asking if someone will be a major leaguer is a loaded question. The odds are against anyone no matter who they are. Pap has about as much potential as anyone could ever want in a catcher. Body frame, pop, athleticism, arm strength, awareness, etc. it's up to him to put it all together. If he does, he'll be as good as he wants to be. Lsu has had catchers come through recently that are better college baseball players than pap. None of them in recent memory that I can think of have the ceiling that he has.

I think Pap has the second best chance of any draft eligible player on this team of making a MLB roster...maybe even the best chance.

If college batting average translated to the big leagues Raph Rhymes would be winning batting titles instead of hitting .220 in single A. To compare Pap hitting .250 to catchers in the majors is a joke.

I don't recall anybody saying that he will hit .250 in the majors because he's hitting .250 in college.

Yeah, if I was a MLB scout (I'm not), I wouldn't worry too much about his average, or the slump he had been in earlier this season. He's got the build and tools to do it.

Good lord guys, many of us love college baseball, but at the highest level of college, it is high A minor league ball at best.

Easiest to make it as catcher.

Work on game.

If defense is good and batting is > mendoza line, he will move up through the minors.

If he is better every year he will be invited to spring training. They need a zillion catchers. Then he will be on the spot. Does he get just one hit in his first game, no passed balls and field his position? He gets another start. So many injuries to catchers. People get a shot in spring games just to fill in. Catchers are commodities, like left handed curve ball pitchers.

Who the hell said good college players meant good MLB players??? There are a share of college players who have long successful MLB careers. Thats what I was asking if Pap could do.

Dont forget you are on the rant...they spent 75% of the season wanting Pap to never put on a LSU uniform again.

No. I'm no expert but I think catcher is one of the harder positions to make it up to the bigs. Though there's no telling. He's swinging a hot bat lately and if he can put ~10 lbs on in the offseason he can be a very dangerous at bat.

That would be part of the next step development he'd have to make now wouldn't it? I'm not pegging the guy as a big leaguer, I'm just saying he's got all the tools you could ever ask for at this point. His potential is sky high. Like I said, it's up to him to put it together and continue to develop

I dont think you have the slightest clue how hard it is to make it to the majors...and then to make it as a catcher on top of that.

Please, enlighten us on just how hard it is big boy.

According to statistics in 2012 10.5% of players who were drafted out of college made it to the majors.
