Yes or no?

I say yes...and he will be a pretty solid on. Defensively he isn't far away. If he fine tunes the defense a little more then his batting isn't really important. Add in the fact that he's a switch hitting catcher, and his batting will be even less of a factor. If he ever can consistently have great at bats, like he has the back part of the schedule, then he will be a solid major leaguer.

Well if he does neither then no shite he won't be a MLB catcher. If Bregman couldn't hit and play defense in the minors then he wouldn't be playing for the Astors. Doesn't matter what he did in college. Thanks for adding a quality post to the discussion though.

Calm down Sally. The point he was making is you think he will be a MLB player if he improves his defense and hitting...I think everyone would agree if Pap improves he could play in the majors

Don't think he was as good as Gibbs

But his good is really good. He's just inconsistent. If he puts it together year but at this rate no

I dont think you have the slightest clue how hard it is to make it to the majors...and then to make it as a catcher on top of that.

Too inconsistent both defensively and offensively. I agree.

However, his defense isn't too far off. And if he can just learn to put together consistent good at bats. The numbers don't have to be amazing.

you really think Pap has a chance to be one of the best 60 catchers in the world?

You think he doesn't?

If so, why not?

Is he one of the 60 best in college currently? What about all divisions? What about over those currently in the minors? Those in high school?

Not saying he won't be but that is a long way off and he has a lot of improvement he needs to make in order to get in the conversation.

The dude hits around .220 for the better part of the year, goes on a tear to hit .250, and now you think he can go pro and his batting isn't important? Lol

He meets the size and frame of a prototypical MLB catcher.

His blocking, arm strength, release time are already on the + side....that should only improve.

His bat obviously isn't all the way ready, but thats the least important thing here.

I agree with this. I thought he was solid defense and above average offense. Using him as a bar, I don't think Pap will make it past the minors. to be fair, you have to be damn near a Golden Spikes semifinalist to be an average major leaguer.

Do some research buddy...please let me know how many catchers finished the season hitting above .250 last season.

Pap is an easy out for most of the year against plenty of garbage teams. You think that is just going to carry over to major league pitching? And you're talking about him not even worrying about his offense at that level.

The only bat in the lineup that resembles major league stuff is Deichmann.
