From the research many have done, it’s been found that Matt House run a lot of cover 3 zone vs the man coverage we’re all use to. For context, the legion of boom Seahawks defenses is a great example of this style of coverage defense and the type of defensive backs it takes to make it work.

We’ll probably pursue more physical larger DBs that play the run and are good in zone (like the DB we just got from UL) verse the quick twitch athletes that we’re use to at CB like Peterson, Stingley etc.

This is not a bad thing at all, we’ll just see a different type of athlete back there. And I’m all for it. I think it will dramatically improve our run defense, especially when facing mobile QBs.

Given that's what Arky ran I believe this.

So we need rangy corners with speed and some big thumpers at safety who can lay the wood? Like Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor/Earl Thomas?

That’s great but to beat bama you better be able to play press man

The two corners we signed from high school (J. Allen and L. Welch) are both physical corners who play the run well and are bulldogs. The days of Raymond wanting 6’2 170 lb finesse corners are definitely over.

I'll take less talented players, that want to play for LSU and give 110% effort on every play. No more divas!

And the knock on Richard Sherman was he didn't follow the best WR like a true shutdown corner does. Just my 2 cents but I think you need press man shutdown corners. Unless you have a front 7 that can get pressure on the QB consistently so he can't pick apart the zone coverage.

To an extent I agree. But really I’ll take MORE talented players that want to play for LSU. You saw it with Georgia last night. Say what you want about Kirby but he has those guys bought in and playing for each other, and they’re massively talented. I think BK can achieve that

I don't think you will have an issue with effort with the 2 dbs you got from us and they shod be solid running zone coverages.

If we can manufacture the Seahawks defense from a few years ago, then by all means…let’s have different looking DB’s.

The 5 star divas only give you one year…their freshman year. The second year they have their mysterious injuries. Third year they opt out.
