Could turn a 13-1, a BCS National Championship appearance, SEC Championship, SEC West Title, Multi National Award/Honor season into a NEGATIVE for the program.

It's pretty outstanding. I'm actually impressed with the amount of hysteria that can be manufactured. And then re-spewed into the masses.

Every one of you should work in politics or advertising

To be fair, it wasn't that LSU lost. It was how they lost.

Getting shut out, only 90+ yards of offense and only crossing the 50 yard line once.... while at the SuperDome against SEC rival Alabama - a team they already beat at their place just 2 months prior.

The season overall was a success, but that was a huge stink-bomb to cap it off.

they lost a close, hard fought game that got blown open late with a run by a talented running back against an exhausted defense.

I don't care if LSU got blown out 56-0. The season was one of the best in history.

That loss wrecked my week too.

No one has ever argued with that. But the fans have taken it way beyond disappointment and have used it to champion an anti-Miles agenda that is so far out there it's both distrubing and damaging. All the while, saying it's only because they "love" the school. It's just like the alcoholic spouse who beats the crap out of his wife but tells her he only does it because he loves her so dang much.

I promise you that any recruit that decommits or player that leaves does so because of trends in the program, not what fans say on a message board.

I'm torn on that. Maybe so but LSU fans are unique and passionate in so many ways. I believe that passion has turned to poison for some...way beyond what most other fan bases would experience.

15-0 going into the fourth? that's pretty close.
defense was treading water.

it was the offense that was terrible.
LSU was down like they were in the Bama game in much the same way that they were against Arkansas and Georgia.

I'm fairly certain it was poor coaching that transformed the BCSNCG into a monumental negative for the program, unless you truly believe that posts on an anonymous internet board are responsible for (a) the humiliating loss to Bama; (b) losing the top in-state recruit; (c) losing a four star OT prospect; and (d) the decommitment of Gunner Kiel.

With respect, the Rant had no role in any of that.

Trying to decree that the season was a success doesn't help. Only one thing will, that balm of every heartbroken sports fan through time immemorial: waiting until next year. The pain of being brutalized by our most despised rival won't fade until the team takes the field again in pursuit of a championship. And if years and seasons and graduating classes pass with no title, the sting won't ever really be forgotten. Rare are the opportunities for history.
