unless chavis and company were lying, they weren't going to run a lot of nickel this year anyway........I agree we need that 5th guy (assuming Loston is ok and lives up).....and we need some backups....I assume the other jalen will get a lot of action as well....but what about Martin....could he not move into the nickel spot?

I don't believe anything any coach says about what they're going to do.

I think everyone agrees Martin is going to be a very good player but he's a Reid type. He and Collins will excel because of athleticism combined with length, not elite explosiveness. Like I said Eugene seems to be the only player on the roster that can offer any semblance of what TM and Brooks did. And I'm not sure he has the elite talent that either of them did. I imagine we see less nickel for sure now with Tahj Jones being key as a LB that can cover.

My bad, I forget sometimes everyone isn't as quick as me on reading.

I will do my best to accommodate you going forward.

Thomas will be a starter. True freshman, as legit as it gets.

In any event, it helps to have a DL like LSU does. That in itself negates a lot of the potential issues in the secondary.

On the bright side, it is looking better and better for the 5 star DB's looking at LSU.

Debo and Lamar Louis can also play his slot at times. Mathieu was basically a linebacker in some formations. We just need one or two younger guys to step up.

Everyone thought Turner was being recruited to play DB. He should make the switch. He was defensive MVP of the Hoover 7 on 7 national championships.

Not to worry someone will step up just like tm did in the beginning . Some people think the world is going to end since he got kicked off the team. The Chief knows what he is doing.

agreed...I know lsu will be fine....actually still very good in the secondary......perfect talent level on the defense for a young guy to come in and shine...

This doesn't hurt us at all. The strongest team we play has middle of the pack WRs. Now we will have a safety on Bama's TE instead of TM.

this was called sarcasm...it may have went over your head. Apparently you didn't read the thread that 312 was all up in blaming miles for all of this, etc.....guy was going nuts.
I got the sarcasm, and it was way over the top. I didn't read that other thread, though.

It's not the end of the world but one less part to plug in. If we get a couple of DBs dinged, suddenly we're very thin. Injuries will be a concern.
