Why attach someone for saying we are now thin? It is FACT. Doesn't mean we think the sky is falling.

I do hope you see the irony in calling me a "kneejerking dumbass" when your post consists of all-caps blather, witless ad hominem attacks, and cringe inducing attempts at parody.

Whether or not you like it, we are thin at CB, and that does leave us very vulnerable to passing attacks, especially as the young players make their inevitable adjustment. This is reality.

Jalen Collins was going to see a LOT of action at CB anyway....from all reports the kid is a stud......just means an additional young guy will get a lot of playing time...and plenty of time to prepare.....second game will be thrown to the wolves against UW......as long as Loston is okay and steps up or lives up to his potential...LSU is still going to have an exceptional secondary. have to remember that if you ever were going to have a young guy or two, you would want to have the DL that lsu has so the qb's can't sit back and pick the cb's apart.......plus....got some top guys still back there to run the show in Reid and Simon.....good mix for LSU back there, and will help our depth for next year...

It's going to be very challenging to consistently defend against the pass.

This is what I think most would disagree with. With our pass rush and our Eric Reid we will be ok

Dude...I know what reality is.....yes LSU is thin...but I have already seen how you went off on your tangent about Miles and this being his fault....that was complete bs and in all honesty, completely ignorant. Thugs gonna thug...you can't stop them. Like it or not, TM was a thug.

As for being thin...yes they are. But as I mentioned, J Collins was going to play a lot anyway...not he will play more.....he has some good experienced guys back there with him in reid and simon....and hopefully loston lives up...if he does...then lsu will have an outstanding secondary again. They don't have to be great with the DL that lsu has....as you probably should know. From all indications, J collins, though young, is the real deal......

plus simon....

now I will say we don't need to lose simon or reid, because then we would start to be fricked....

This is a much worse overreaction than the post you were responding to.

We will need to convert someone. Injuries could wreak havoc with the secondary.

this was called sarcasm...it may have went over your head. Apparently you didn't read the thread that 312 was all up in blaming miles for all of this, etc.....guy was going nuts.

Well, we'll just have to disagree on whether or not TM was a thug who couldn't be reformed.

Anyway, agree on Collins. But now we need another young player to step up in the nickel and to avoid injuries. Loston is already banged up, apparently.

yes....was also thinking about some of those young guys on the offensive side of the ball...just talking out loud.....paul turner? what's the other running back down the list in his second year? I agree, need to have more ready.....but barring injury or further suspension....LSU will be fine...have a few weeks to get ready...

I like your optimism but I think your perspective is a bit incomplete. Collins will fill in nicely as a corner on one side of the field but he was going to do that to a great extent anyway. TM's value was always mostly in that nickel slot. Last year we had two players that excelled in that hybrid role, Brooks and TM. Both were small guys with explosiveness who weren't afraid to be physical in the box both against the run and rushing the passer. This allowed Chavis to be extremely creative out of both the nickel and dime packages. Right now Eugene is the only player on the roster that seems to fit that role and none of us have seen him and he's a RS Freshman. It's not the end of the world by any means but it's still a much bigger loss than some want to believe.

don't know the severity of this, but this could be a big deal. This is his chance to shine....if he comes through...perhaps martin could step into the nickel.

unless chavis and company were lying, they weren't going to run a lot of nickel this year anyway........I agree we need that 5th guy (assuming Loston is ok and lives up).....and we need some backups....I assume the other jalen will get a lot of action as well....but what about Martin....could he not move into the nickel spot?

never said he couldn't be reformed...and I hope for his sake he can turn his life around...but yes, he was a big thug.....and an outspoken JJ supporter (which i didn't like to see).....again, I wish him future success and hope he has learned his lesson...but I'm not sold that he has...one would think he would have already learned it.....he knew the stakes.....millions on the line.....and he blew it....does not speak of someone that makes good decisions and has learned...maybe this total fall will change him..i hope so. Rest assured, he was warned many more times than we know about...
