A lot of people need to realize JJ inherited stringer and hickey. He is working with what he came here with. When he gets his recruits and can fully implement his offense and defense and fails, then it's time to say he's a bad coach.

However, he's doesn't have senior or player leadership on this team and it is glaringly obvious.

Really? Have you watched the last couple of games?

I have, and I'm not basing my criticisms on the last couple of games. I'm looking at the whole picture. You can argue growing pains sure, but based on the perception (and usually a McDonald's All-American is expected to perform at a high level immediately) he has been a disappointment for the year.

e's a solid backup that can play 10-15 minutes of basketball. He has growing pains. That's your own fault if you expected a ton from a kid weighing 170 pounds with no shot
Sorry I expected a highly recruited basketball player to actually make shots.

I just don't get why people are so pissed off?

I get we had high hopes, but maybe it is the fans fault. The team didn't even make the NIT last year. CJJ is not a "good" x's and o's coach, but he's not a "bad" one either...he's just average. But in basketball more than any other sport, players win or lose the game the most. We missed so many free throws tonight. CJJ said preseason they have been focusing nonstop throughout offseason on free throws...so who's fault is that? The coach is practicing them, but they continue to miss.

Just saying there is lots of blame to go around. I put most of it on the players as they are just getting out hustled to the ball

I think we're missing Carmouche more than we realize.

that sucked

Without question. this has been the summary of our season.

Quarterman is a HUGE disappointment based on his recruitment

I'm not sure what kind of expectations you had for him this season, but they were unreasonable.

We look lost and uninspired on offense sans Mickey and Stringer.

Meh, Martin and Coleman are playing hard.

We looked and performed better last year with seemingly way less talent. Don't try to argue this point because last year we didn't have total WTF losses like Rhode Island.

Agreed.

He seemed to get way more out of those guys last year and a team that had a damn band member playing. They've regressed as a team and are supposed to be more talented.

Then you don't follow basketball recruiting at all. He is a lanky kid who played uptempo and drove, never had to learn to shoot. No coach ever forced him to do it...now he's learning on the go

There are lots of McD's that don't contribute right away. And he missed the first 2 weeks of the season and has been playing catch up. He's now averaging almost double figures. Are double figures with 5-6 rebounds not good enough for you?

We lost this game when Jones failed to call a timeout and run a set play with 10 ticks left in regulation.

How do you not understand that he made a good call? He had the matchup he wanted. Hickey was guarded by one of the worst defenders in the SEC and ended up with a wide open 13 footer...he just missed it. shite happens.

At the end of the day, we expected way too much out of Hickey, Stringer, and O'bryant. Overall they're an average trio, or at least an inconsistent trio

The entire final 2 minutes were a complete shite show and he sat on 3 timeouts without calling a single one.

Agreed, Martin is the least of our concerns right now. Not figuring out a zone, free throws, bone head turnovers, fouls and JOB's apathy seem more troublesome to me.

Martin has looked like a new player off the bench. Oh yeah Malik Morgan just isn't that good. He looks like a ball player but he misses so many shots and fouls so much.

Stringer and Hickey aren't the problem, they carried us tonight. If neither of them go to the bench with alleged foul trouble, LSU wins.

Those are the only two guys that can sometimes handle the basketball. The other guys are turnovers with a capital T.

So true. I always say he has "it", but I am starting to come to terms he's just a mediocre guy

True, those possessions were terrible, but this guy is bitching about the last 10 seconds when JJ actually made the correct call to not call a TO and to run an ISO with hickey on Henderson.

In all this discussion, I am surprised Carmouche's name hasn't come up. He was a great leader last year and we are missing all aspects of his game.

Because I witnessed first had behind closed doors John Brady coach. The players ignored that dude constantly. He had 2 good seasons ever and it's because he had phenom talent!!! Stromile and Jabari then the BR bunch. Look at how bad his other seasons were when he didn't have exceptional talent.

I agree Carmouche is sorely sorely missed. He had the tenacity this team doesn't have. Besides Coleman, no one shows any determination or heart. Hickey and Stringer play hard, but they aren't emotional leaders...and this team is missing that
