Penn State confirms 'talks' of a future neutral-site meeting with LSU
quote:

While nothing is official, a Penn State official did confirm "talks" between PSU and LSU about a future meeting at a neutral site.

The two programs made unexpected headlines this afternoon when a 2020 schedule that had a PSU-LSU matchup penciled in for Sept. 12, 2020 was accidentally posted to the Big Ten Network website, according to reports from the Daily Collegian and others. That PDF file has since been removed from the Big Ten Network's website

Penn State will play LSU in 2020, according to Big Ten composite schedule

quote:

Penn State will play LSU at a neutral site on Sept. 5, 2020, according to the Big Ten’s composite schedule, which was updated Wednesday when the conference released its 2018 and 2019 slates.

BTN.com originally linked to the composite schedule in this analysis piece, then pulled the link from the story. Several minutes later, it removed the file of the schedule from the website entirely. The Collegian saved the original PDF, which can be found here.

Although no official announcement has been made by either school, Penn State’s lone game in 2020 on that schedule is “vs. LSU.” All home games just say the opposing team without a “vs.” and away games include “at." Penn State's 2014 schedule has "vs. UCF" in regard to the neutral site game in Ireland.

I personally would rather see a home and home like PSU did with Alabama. The yankees would love to see a Saturday night game in Tiger Stadium. And I am sure the LSU faithful would love a November white out game in Beaver Stadium.

the best way to do this would for LSU to go to Penn State in September and for Penn State to come to LSU in October...

I guess the administration is hell bent on doing whatever they want, ticket season holder be damned. I guess they are finally starting to reap what they've sown when it comes to attendance. Next year the home schedule is putrid, and you can bet your bottom dollar that for the Bama game, a number of folks will sell their tickets to gumps under the premise of getting their money back for the baths they take on the other home game tickets.

Do you think Bama fans do this , as well?
More expensive tickets and a terrible schedule year after year.

How do they handle it? Thy sell a bunch of tickets to LSU fans?

I've been a number if times and the answer is no.
So why is that?

Do you realize where LSU ranks in the SEC in terms of ticket prices?

Check it out when you have some time.

I think we should plan to play Penn State somewhere truly random, like Nepal or Burundi. That really would be a neutral site!

Seriously, the idea that Penn State would play UCF in Ireland is absurd. I could kind of understand when Notre Dame played a game there, but Penn State-UCF in Dublin just seems like a random assignment. What's next--Alabama versus Northern Illinois in Thailand? USC versus Boston College in Finland? The 1985 Chicago Bears versus Johnny Manziel in a submarine? These neutral site games are starting to seem pretty gimmicky. What's wrong with a good, old-fashioned home and home?

Tiger Stadium and Beaver Stadium are two of the great cathedrals of college football. I love going to other schools to experience their campus and their stadium. Washington and Arizona were great trips. I don't like the constant "neutral" professional stadium sites. Hell, we are adding another deck to the South End Zone with lots of suites but we are going to play the great non-conference games at neutral sites and then treated to Furman for home games.

I'd go to Happy Valley in a heartbeat. Great fans. Great football tradition. Imagine my purple and gold in a white out!
