I’m talking to you Omaha veterans and those in the know.

Give me your tips and tricks please.

It’ll be myself and my father. Maybe 1-2 others.

Do you usually fly or drive? Pro/cons?
Where do you stay? Does anyone have RV lot experience?
Do you purchase tickets in advance? At the field?
Do most go for 14 days or just the championship weekend?

I have been before, but it was always fly by the seat of my pants with a group of the boys when I was far younger. We drove, road trips aren’t bad when you’re younger and with friends.

Thank you in advance.

Someone legit needs to make a travel guide so it can be stickied.

I wish I was the guy for this, but not attending.

Make a reservation. For you and your dad at Brothers Sebastian steakhouse. Took my dad and son there for Father’s Day in 2017. Was a great steak and atmosphere. Warren Buffet eats there a good bit.

Barretts Barleycorn Pub and Grill was the LSU bar, hopefully it still is, it was great!
For those taking kids, the Zoo is fantastic.

We went the last time LSU went and the outfield general admission seats were cheap, didn't have to buy in advance, got there early and sat in the 1st row.
Got reserved tickets the day of, got to the stadium early and found out that tickets were given out in a lottery like deal, everyone got a number in line, we were in the upper 200's they draw a number and that's where they started selling tickets, they drew lower 200's so we got tickets, the people in the front of the line were mad but they ended up getting them too, just a little higher up in the stadium. Not sure if they Still do that.

Travel: Drove it once, probably won’t do it again. Was about 16 hour drive and broke it up into 2 days. Between gas and hotel room there and back, it was about $500. Booked round trip flights for wife and I about 6 months ago for cheaper. Isn’t a bad drive, just takes long and gets costly with gas/hotel stay.

Hotel: I’ve been 4 or 5 times and have always stayed across the river in Council Bluffs (Iowa). Majority of hotels provide complementary shuttle service to and from the field and airport. Tips are very appreciated.

Tickets: You had to have purchased them in April and they sold out in less than an hour. In the past, they used to sell general admission books, but they stopped doing this a few years ago. All seats are reserved now, even the outfield so your only move now is the secondary market (StubHub or TicketMaster).

Duration: I’d recommend going the whole time, it’s only 10-11 days now. If you can’t go the whole time and like baseball, then go the first weekend. 2 games a day for 5 days. If you’re not a huge baseball fan, go the 2nd half and watch LSU bring home a National Championship.

All tickets are advanced sales but from what I’ve heard you can still get tickets up there.

For those interested, Union Pacific will have its huge steam engine #4014, aka “Big Boy”, on display during the CWS. Will be next to the baseball stadium at UP’s Home Plate facility. This is the same train that traveled to NOLa a couple of years ago through Texas and Louisiana.

Anyone know if Harrah's in Council Bluffs offers a shuttle to and from the stadium?
