Old Box vs. New Box

As nice as the new one is, it just seems to lack the intimidation factor that the old one had. I've had season tickets for 22 years and I've tried to figure out why the new one just doesn't have "it". I was watching old videos online of games at the old box and the crowd just seemed so much louder. Granted, they were videos of regionals but even regionals in the new one aren't the same, to me at least.
Another gripe I have with the new box is that it is so difficult to get to the stadium after parking. I park across Nicholson and crossing the tracks and then walking across a damn wooden board is pathetic on LSU's part.
I don't mean to complain. Just something that was on my mind this morning
As always,

probably got more to do with the money schools have put into their baseball programs since Skip created the monster.

The Old Box felt a lot more like the enemy was in a pit of craze and were not going to get out alive.
Plus, the old one had great hamburgers and an atmosphere that just reeked baseball.
The new one? It's nice. It's just another thing that has bells and whistles. Aside from the HOF room, I am not that awed.

The bleachers down the left and right field lines were closer to the field. Section L1 gave the opposing 3B coach a lot of grief in the Old Box. Section L2 dished out the grief to the opposing bullpen. Leroy's voice carried much further in the Old Box as well.
The new Box seems a bit reserved. Yeah, it was necessary to build the New Box to continue to recruit quality players, but as far as atmosphere is concerned...I would take the Old Box over the New Box any day of the week.

About half the stadium left last night after the 9th inning ended. All game it was so quiet. Quiet as I've ever heard it on a Friday night sec game.

The fanbase that demands excellence!

The new box is nice, but its just a boring, bland stadium. The old box was outdated but the atmosphere was 10x better. Comparing the two is like comparing TD Ameritrade to Rosenblatt.

Spot on. The new Alex Box lacks the magic of the old one.

The crowds yesterday and for the sec opener were not nearly as good as the last couple years. Not sure whats going on. Apathy? There were several hundred empty seats in our section in right field. For a friday night sec game with great weather. And the stadium looked like a tuesday night game after the 9th inning. Our fanbase has gotten even softer.

I couldn't believe so many people were leaving. Tie game. Extra innings. It's usually great entertainment. That's why I took pics. I was shocked.

I prefer new box to old box.

The crowds are smaller than this time years past but they'll be there in May.

Best atmosphere EVER for me at an LSU event was 1979 USC-LSU football game. Stadium only seated 78,000 and no suites.
That being said, I'll take today's venue 10 times out of 10 over that one. Money creates improvements and different clientele.

It's the fan base that's not as loud not the stadium. Go to a football game or basketball game. More people will ask you to sit down and pipe down then there are that are cheering. Baseball is the same if not worse. Old people pay the bills but they kill the atmosphere. And not to put it all on the elderly. Everyone else is to busy facebooking. Just look around and notice.
