I think it should have been given to the best DB as a symbol of "DBU," but whatever floats their boat.

It's not a number that has been openly passed down in any official capacity. Tyrann switch to it to emulate Peterson. The past few years these posts keep popping up as if it is handle like the #18.

I hope we get pass the whole number 7 being significant ritual as the #18 is....patrick peterson wears it and then another person asked if it was ok to change his number to it and its a ritual now? No...btw LF is only wearing it to represent where he came from...the 7th ward...no more and no less...but to answer your question...it was most likely promised to LF so it wasnt issued to anyone else...kinda like the #2 was promised to peterson when he was coming to lsu and came a year later...dont remember any threads about why no one wore the 2 jersey that year
