Exactly. There's a tradition afoot that predates LSU's inclusion of football as a varsity sport, and it won't go away no matter how hard you try. It's as old as college football itself. The tradition, of course, is college students using off-color chants during their sporting events.

You anti-traditionalist language police bastards need to stop killing a tradition that's as old as Reconstruction.

Honestly from the student section I was thinking it went well. To me
STTDB wasn't chanted as loud and clear as normal and I was hearing a lot more "Talking out the side of your neck" than I expected to. It could have sounded better to me just because the rather large group I was sitting with did it correctly. It's a shame we still screwed it up.

I seriously doubt many students know the 'a-hole' chant. I don't.

I can confirm, you could hear it on tv. It wasn't clear enough to know it was happening unless you knew what to listen for. I only heard it played once in the first half, didn't hear them play it again.

I don't know what's more hilarious. The students trying to justify their being complete trashballs or......well, nothing.

Sure, students are going to curse, that doesn't mean you have to be complete trash about it.

You will never justify your position. I'm not sure why or what the students find in saying it anyway. It's not funny. It's not "intimidating". It's not anything but garbage. Stay classy, morons

None of the students remember Tiger Rag since it was banned so long ago. Honestly they could have played that easily yesterday and no one would have cared.
They need to just cut their losses on Neck- you're not going to stop the student section- It's not a tradition either if it was played for four years
Oh Wee Oh should be off the ban list because in comparison telling someone "You Suck" isn't really that bad. I've heard 6 and 7 year olds saying that. (and they panned the camera over an area with LSU Professors who were also saying "You Suck" BTW)

I promise you if they would have played it you would learn it immediately. If you don't think the students were ready for it after all the pub heading up to the game you're fooling yourself.

STTDB could be heard on TV, but if you weren't listening for it, it wasn't very clear. You kinda had to know to pay attention to hear it.

They only banned oh-wee-oh when "cock" got added to the end of "you suck." Stupid that they'd ban it when "cock" seems to have been dropped from the chant.

There's nothing to justify. They are college kids having fun and harming no one. They aren't doing anything wrong.

They'll never justify their position because there is no need. You pigs who try to police the language of others, though, will never be able to justify your disgusting position.

Yep, I heard STTDB two times from the students on CBS' broadcast. For the record, if I didn't know what they were saying, I wouldn't have been able to decipher it over the broadcast. I also don't care that STTDB is being said.

Look, Students gonna student, and everyone should realize that the choices made by 18-22 year olds aren't usually the wisest. DWI.

I didn't hear it on tv but my house was kind of loud most of the game.

I didn't hear anything clear on the TV either. I could hear that something was being chanted by some people (and I know what that is), but it didn't come off as this resoundingly clear chant. It wasn't much of anything (though it very well could have been louder in the stadium). At this point, just play the songs...

If A&M can have "Go to Hell Bama" on their video board running along the side of the stadium, I don't understand how "You suck" is a big deal.

Were Neck, Tiger Rag, and oh wee oh all played and kept clean?

Neck was played and yelled louder than before, despite a very small student turnout. Also yelled loudly by former students around the stadium. I expect it to be gone for good and good riddance. Tiger Rag not played. Oh wee oh played and "You suck" chants included. I really don't care about that one and if I had to guess, it will probably be kept until the next home SC game and gone after that.

College students using colorful language in chants at football games has been a tradition since 1869, but the language police in Baton Rouge, filled with true leaders, just may be able to end this scourge for good.

You heard what you wanted to hear. It was very clear all around the stadium what was really said.

Banning songs is a joke. They are taking away from the college football experience.

Maybe you heard what you wanted to hear. You said former students around the stadium were yelling it. Did you go and interview them and see their transcript? I'm not saying people didn't chant it, but there seems to be some differing opinions.

I know you don't like the cheer, but come on... If it makes you feel any better, I couldn't make out much of anything on TV other than that some people were saying something.
